Outdoor Garden Storage Cabinet

Good morning sunshine!! And happy Tuesday to you. It’s seriously starting to feel like summer here in Colorado. It was EIGHTY FOUR degrees yesterday. It was actually so hot I needed to turn the air conditioner on in our house. Crazy, right?! Colorado weather is so unpredictable this time of year, but I’m really starting to think we are in the clear and officially done with snow now that we’ve made it to temps in the eighties. I’m just crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. C’mon summertime!! Anyway, our Outdoor Decor Week continues today and this post is all about my outdoor garden storage cabinet! I used this little cabinet last summer and I LOVED it.

This cabinet on our back patio is where I store all of my extra garden-y things–including seed packets, planters, gardening gloves, tools, etc. It’s just nice to have that all organized and all in one place when I need it. Plus this cabinet is the perfect size for a makeshift “potting bench”. It has lots of storage.

My lilacs are finally blooming! So of course I couldn’t resist trimming a few branches to take inside. The smell of lilacs is one of my all-time favorite things in life. It’s one of the simple pleasures of summer that I love the most. Also isn’t that the cutest little ladder?! I chalk painted it the soft green color that last year and I love using it outside during the summer months.

I’ve had this cabinet for almost ten years now and I have to laugh thinking back to all the ways I’ve used it over the past decade. Believe it or not, I used this cabinet as a makeshift PANTRY in our first home. I stored things like bags of chips and cereal in there because our kitchen was tiny and we didn’t have a real pantry. And now all these years later I’m using it to store pots and seed packets. Pretty crazy. But it’s cool to see how this cute cabinet has been used in so many ways!

Well I hope my little outdoor garden storage cabinet gives you a few ideas for your own home this summer! I’ll be back again tomorrow with another post. Toodles for now! xo

Such a beautiful way to add storage! How do you protect it from the weather? Doesn’t the wood warp? What kind of finish is on it?

I have a clear poly finish on it. It’s been sitting here since last summer and the wood hasn’t warped–even with all our snow! The paint is wearing off a bit but the wood seems to be in good condition.

I leave it outside all year round! It’s been there almost 2 years now and it’s holding up great. I put a clear poly coat on it and I think that really helps.

Surprisingly, this cabinet has held up really well. We’ve had it out here for almost 2 years now and it’s doing fine. The paint is chipping off in some places but the wood is good! I have a coat of clear poly on it and I think that helps a lot!
