I wonder if I’ll ever start a blog post without rambling. Probably not. So here goes—I’m already thinking about New Year’s resolutions. I know it’s way too early and it’s silly to even go there in my mind already, but I LOVE January. Something about the fresh new beginning really motivates me to get my crap together. And I have a lot of crap that needs gettin’ together right now. I feel more unorganized than ever and I’m scattered in every way possible. It’s a problem. But nonetheless here I am, ready to roll into another week in my usual hot mess fashion. And today I’m excited to share a look at my cozy Christmas decor in the basement. I finally got this space finished up and I love how it all came together!
Cozy Christmas Decor

It was so much fun to decorate this space for Christmas! I really wanted it to be super cozy and festive. I used my beloved 7.5 foot tree down here along with two other smaller trees. It basically feels like a winter wonderland and I’m not mad about it.

Now that we have this huge built-in cabinet I’ve realized that I’m not very good at styling shelves. I spent way too long re-arranging this area a zillion times and I’m still not sure I love how it looks now. I always want things to look even on both sides, but then I realize that’s probably the OCD in me. It’s tricky business!

It still amazes me how this space went from a dark empty hole with concrete floor to a super cozy living space in a matter of a few months. I’m still SO glad we decided to finish this basement right away because now we get to enjoy it for the holidays. This is basically where we hang out every single night, watching Christmas movies and eating popcorn. It’s our little sanctuary!
Thanks a ton for dropping by today. I hope you enjoyed this little tour of our cozy Christmas decor in the basement!

Hi! I love your farmhouse and the way you’ve decorated! Where did the ottoman in front of the basement couch come from?
That is from Arhaus! I can’t find the exact one online anymore, but this one is very similar! https://rstyle.me/+lTlUMHVixFn4DF5BYta5hg
I love those touches of red and green. That’s pretty much how my Christmas decor looks. The cozy warm creams with a bright spot that makes me smile. Have a Blessed Christmas.
Yes!! Loving the pops of color this year.
I smile every time I see a spot of red. I am loving it.
Me too, Sally!
I knew that it would be beautiful! The winter wonderland you’ve created is simply breathtaking!!! I. Love. It.
Thank you so much Andrea!
I saw your sneak peek on IG and I’ve been waiting for this reveal!! I absolutely LOVE it!! It really is like a winter wonderland 😍 all of the trees and splashes of color, just so cozy and inviting. Did I say I love it? I really do.
haha you are too sweet, thank you Liza Jane!!
You made your lower level very comfy and cozy. I dont consider your basement ..a basement because you have those lovely windows that are grade level. They bring in some much lovely light. I have enjoyed seeing your progress. You have made this house truly a home for your family. Be safe and healthy.😊
It does feel weird calling this a basement because it doesn’t feel like that at all. I like the idea of calling it a lower level instead 🙂 Thank you for the kind words Lorri, always appreciate you!
Such a cheerful, cozy space. I love the little pops of color and the trees! So beautiful and inspiring!
Thank you so much Cyndee!! xoxo
Love the pops of red! I have a red couch so I’m all set for Christmas!
oh perfect!!
And yet?? I always think you’re the MOST organized person! You talk about seeking your home and BAM 💥,you’ve packed it up, moved and completely decorated new home in blink of eye!!! And it’s so perfect!!!!
First time you ordered from arhouse, were you scared to buy sofa you’d never sat on or tried out??
haha well I’ve got you fooled! I’m not very organized, it’s a weakness of mine 🙂 And yes, it’s a bit nerve racking to order a sofa online but I’ve done it twice now from Arhaus and neither one disappointed me. Their stuff is the BEST. Can’t go wrong!!
Oh my goodness this is so good! I am loving the pops of green and red so much! And this space is my favorite of all. Even though it’s a basement there is so much light!
So cozy and serene, just love it Sarah! Have a beautiful day💖
thank you Lori!! xo
Your basement looks so comfy cozy! That sofa looks amazingly comfortable. I love all the christmas decorations you have…and the shelves look great
Ohhhh Ruth, YES! That sofa is the most comfortable sofa in the world. Everyone that sits on it comments on how comfy it is!!
I love the basement decorations!! It looks amazing!! I was wondering where you got the white tub your tree is sitting is? I love it and think it would be perfect for my tree so that my Roomba can vacuum and not suck up my tree skirt!
That you Wendy! That tub is actually an antique wash basin I found several years ago. Lucky find!! I’ve used to for my Christmas tree ever since!
What color white did you use on your bookshelves? It’s all so pretty!!
I’m not sure exactly what color the bookshelves are…I think the contractor just used an ultra bright white. I’ll have to check!
Could you share your paint colors and the company. Thank you. Your home is absolutely beautiful!
Sure! The entire house is painted with Alabaster by Sherwin Williams. It’s my favorite white paint color!
