The Basement is Finished!!

You guys, it’s done!! After two and a half months, the basement is officially finished. They wrapped up the last few things this week and it’s finally ours to enjoy. I honestly can’t believe it’s done! When we bought the house this was a huge decision for us. My husband and I went back and forth for quite a while, but in the end we knew that finishing the basement would be worth it. Now we have way more room for the kids to play, an extra living space, bonus room/guest room, and I finally have my office. Eeekk! I can’t wait to start decorating and get furniture in here, but for now I thought it would be fun to share a bunch of photos. Here’s how it looked when we started back in August:

The Basement “Before”

The Basement Reveal!

And here it is now!

I was able to design this built-in from scratch with our contractor and I LOVE how it turned out. It’s really the focal point of the whole basement. Plus it gives us lots of storage! The black sconces are HERE.

I always knew if we finished the basement I wanted to include a barn door. I really wanted one in our last home, but I never found a good space for one. But this bonus room/guest room is the perfect spot for it. This door adds such a fun and cozy feel. Plus I love the natural finish on the wood!

I want to make this little corner a fun area for the kids to play. And actually, I just ordered one of those large hanging swings for this spot and I can’t wait to hang it up!

I am soooooo smitten with this bathroom, I just love how this all came together. This vanity is from Home Depot and all the marble tile is from Riad Tile. The hexagon design is so fun, yet really classy at the same time. I went with a matching marble subway tile for the shower/bath.

Right next to the bathroom is my office. I wanted black French doors and they look so good!

This is an LPV floor so it’s super durable! I’m super impressed with it so far. The brand is Endura and the color is White Sand.

Finishing this basement and designing it all myself was such a FUN process! The contractor we hired did a phenomenal job and they definitely brought my vision for this empty space to life. I can’t wait to get furniture in here and start decorating! It’s really so bright and open, it doesn’t even feel like a basement. And we’re all just grateful to finally be able to enjoy this extra space.

Thanks so much for dropping by today! Hope you have a relaxing Sunday. xoxo

Lovely! And, you made the right decision to finish your basement NOW. We decide to wait to refinish ours when we moved into our new home 27 years ago, and it is still 90% unfinished. Bravo to you and your husband!
