What’s in My Makeup Bag: Favorite Products

One thing I don’t share about much on this little blog is my love for makeup. I have to admit it, I’m a bit of a makeup junkie my friends. It’s just plain fun and one of the best parts about being a girl, right? I’ve always loved playing around with makeup, but my obsession really began about five years ago when I started watching YouTube tutorials and reviews. Any Jaclyn Hill fans in the house?! From that point on I’ve always thought of makeup as another creative outlet and I’ve actually managed to get pretty good at it over the years. I even did my cousin’s makeup for her wedding. So today I’m excited to take a quick break from DIY and home decor to share what I’m currently rocking in my makeup bag!

LVN Face Products
Some of the links included in this post are affiliate links. Thanks so much for supporting LVN!

I have combination skin that is very sensitive and I break out easily. So over the years I’ve had to be very pick about products I use on my face. Typically I reach for more expensive products as I’ve found these usually do better on my skin . Yes, they are more of an investment for sure, but I’ve found it’s worth it for me personally.

YSL Radiance Awakening FoundationI bought this foundation on a total splurge for Mother’s Day. I don’t normally spend this much on foundation, but let me tell you it is worth it. I’ve had it since May, use it about 4-5 days out of every week, and I’m only halfway through the bottle. This stuff will make your skin look like a complete dream. It’s glowy and it’s perfect for summertime. And it doesn’t break me out. Definitely in my top three foundations ever.

Bare Minerals Complete Coverage ConcealerThis has been my go-to concealer for about 6 months now…maybe longer. And one tube has lasted me that entire time. It’s lightweight, doesn’t get dry, and provides great coverage. I primarily use it under my eyes for those lovely dark circles that come with motherhood.

Bare Minerals Bronzer in High DiveThis is a great everyday bronzer. It’s not too brown, not too orange. Plus it stays on pretty well throughout the day and it doesn’t get blotchy. All good things.

Nars Blush–I’ll be honest, I just purchased my first ever Nars blush in May. I had hear the hype and I decided to give it a go despite the high price tag. So far I have really loved it, plus it seems to be more long wearing than others I have tried.

Bare Minerals Touch Up Veil–I keep this baby in my purse and use it any time I get a little oily throughout the day. Been using it for years and I LOVE it.

Urban Decay All-Nighter Setting Spray–This isn’t something I use on the daily, but this spray is the bomb if your’e going out for the night or even for an especially long day at work. It definitely locks in my makeup and helps it stay purdy all day long.

Nothing beats a car selfie, right? (Yes, the answer to that would be yes) But I wanted you to see the products on my face and this is the most recent shot I have. Overall I think all the products combine for a pretty natural look–that foundation is life, let me tell ya.

LVN Eyes and Brows

When it comes to eye products and brows, I’m a lot more relaxed and tend to use a lot of drugstore goodies, as you see. These are my go-to eye products at the moment:

Urban Decay Naked Skin Eyeshadow Palette–I’ve had this palette for about 4 years now and I use it allll the time. I’m a big fan of brown and tan eyeshadow, so this is perfect. Plus I love having 12 colors in one spot.

Mac Shadow in Brown Script–I can’t say enough good things about this shadow. It’s the perfect chestnut brown. It’s what I’m wearing in the photo above, blended out with Buck from the Urban Decay palette. This is a holy grail eyeshadow for sure. I hear it’s getting discontinued soon, so I will definitely be stocking up.

Kat Von D Liquid Liner–If you’re looking for a liquid liner that goes on easy and stay on all day, this is it. This stuff will not melt off. And as far as application goes, we all know liquid liner can be a total pain, this is the easiest one I’ve found. I get mine in black.

NYC High Definition Liquid Liner–For only being 3 bucks, this stuff is fab. I think it’s a great dupe for the Kat Von D liner, but doesn’t stay on quite as long.

L’Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes–I have tried a ton of mascara over the years and this one does a pretty bang up job of lengthening my lashes. It’s long wearing, which I love, and doesn’t clump with multiple coats. Right now I’m loving it.

L’Oreal Brow Stylist DefinerThis is an awesome dupe of the more expensive Anastasia brow wiz pencil. It’s easy to use and the super small tip makes for great definition.

So there’s my go-to makeup products right now. The only thing I didn’t mention is my favorite lipgloss, which is the plumping Buxom Lip Cream from Sephora. Favorite gloss ever! I always have a tube of it in my purse and it’s what I’m wearing in the photo, in White Russian. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions. And let me know what you think of these type of posts or if there’s anything you’d like to see here on the blog that is more lifestyle related. I’d love to share more of what I love with you all! xoxo

I just found your blog through a pin on Pinterest and I love it. I’m not a make up junky like I used to be, but still love suggestions and ideas on colors and brands. The main thing I want to say is that even though I’m old enough to be your mom, I love your hair cut/style and want to maybe try it for myself. So, if you ever want to do a blog post about the cut and how you style it, I will be very appreciative. 😀

Thank you Kim! I actually use a big round brush to blow dry my hair. I section it off in small pieces and round brush each one. I also use the Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Blow Dry Gel, which really helps me get volume.
