New Living Room Layout

Well after three months of constantly re-arranging our living room layout and trying to figure out what in the heck to do with this new space, I finally got it! It finally clicked and I’m so happy to say this room is officially DONE (except for the ceiling beams and fireplace built-ins that are coming soon).  It’s been a humdinger to say the least, but it feels good to actually have this setup in a way that is comfortable for our family and super cozy. Let’s start with how this room looked just three months ago:

Living Room Layout Before

This is how the living room looked when we moved in. Here’s how it looks today:

If you follow along on IG stories you might have seen the zillion ways I’ve re-arranged this space over the last several months. I was trying to make it work with furniture we already had, but that just wasn’t clicking. So I finally decided to order a leather recliner (the color is called vintage caramel) and another sofa. I was SUPER lucky to get the exact same sofa we already had on clearance from Arhaus!!

This new living room layout works so much better for our family and it’s SO much more comfortable. We have plenty of space to spread out now! Plus now that we have the extra couch, I’m moving the small striped sitting chairs we had in here into the master bedroom. I can’t wait to share what that looks like soon!

Thanks so much for dropping by the blog today. It truly means so much to me! And as always, I hope this post gives you a few ideas for your own cozy home. xoxo

It looks great and you are so lucky to have different ways to put your furniture. Not so with this house we live in.

Its beautiful!!!! I love the size of the living room where you can have 2 sofas!!!!! But in one of the pics I noticed the gold lamps on the buffet in the dining area. Oh how I wish they were black and a different style. Our houses are very much alike and I think (IMO) that they don’t match the tone of you home. Sorry, just my opinion.

    Have a blessed day,
    Love your blog friend,

Oh, how I have felt your pain with your struggles in getting the living room the way you want it! I initially was wanting you to make a “tight L” with the two sofas but now I see just how perfect it is to have a walkway and use space to fill up space. I always learn from you, so thanks!

Hi Sarah, I was saving your pictures and somehow a Pinterest label was showing. I hope I didn’t invade your privacy. How does this happen?

You can save her pictures to your Pinterest if you do Pinterest. That’s why the P shows up on the pictures.

Love this layout. On the struggle bus with 2 identical sofas, 2 identical recliners in our new family room. L shape with the 2 recliners on the left side of great room where focal point is tv over fireplace with window seats or recliners facing tv – and are my rugs going the right way. One thing is for sure – I’m a better nurse than I am interior designer – but I’m trying!
