Furniture Options for the Basement

Now that the basement is finished, it’s time for the best part–FURNITURE!! I’ve been anxiously waiting for this part of the process and I’m so excited that it’s finally here. I can’t wait to make that a super cozy, comfortable space for our family. And I thought it would be fun today to share some of the furniture options I’m considering for our basement! My husband and I were struggling to figure out exactly what we wanted in that space, so I reached out to Arhaus and took advantage of their complimentary design services. Did you know they do this?! I’ve seen it on their website before, but I’d never tried it. And it’s the coolest thing ever! It’s like having a professional interior designer for freeeeeeee. I was paired up with Mollie Shirley and she was AMAZING! We actually had a zoom call to chat about the space and what I wanted, then I sent photos of the finished space so she could see what we were working with. After that she sent me these amazing design boards with some great options! So just as a reminder, here’s what the basement looks like now that it’s finished:

FURNITURE OPTION ONE

OPTION TWO

OPTION THREE

and OPTION FOUR

Aren’t they all so pretty?! I actually love each design and it’s so cool to get an idea of how the basement living room could look with furniture. I even sent Mollie measurements so she knew exactly how much space we were working with, then she made these recommendations based on what would actually fit in that area! Spoiler alert- I already made my decision of which one is my favorite, but I’d love to hear from you. Which option do you like the best??!

Also if you want to give the free Arhaus design services a try GO HERE. I’m telling you, it’s the coolest thing ever!!

I LOVE option ONE because of the coziness and warmth it brings to such a bright and airy space. I also feel like it brings in the colors that are outside and in other places of your home! My second favorite is option FOUR for mostly the same reasons, but love the area rug. That chair also doesn’t quite look like something that would be cozy to curl up in or fun for a kiddo playing to hit their head on…. Can’t wait to see which you chose!

You really can’t go wrong, they’re all great Sarah!! But I really like options 1 and 2 for this space… you have light woodwork, cabinets, carpet, etc in the basement so I think these options give some contrast and give a warm, rich (in color), cozy vibe. That mirror from Option 3 might be great in your office!! Have fun choosing, love all that you’re doing to make your new house a Home:-)

Options 1 or 4: They showcase crisper, cleaner vibes. Once all is in place, a cluttered or overdone space becomes stale and burdensome sooner. Looking down the road, Options 1/4 would more easily accommodate any transitions you’d like to make whether seasonal or in accessorizing.

Actually now that I am looking again, the big leather chair AND Floor lamp from 2 would look great in 3, adding the white round end table. The gray chair in
4 with the lamp from 2, adding the white
round table would also keep it neutral.
The lamp and coffee table I’m not really feeling ….. there it is..MY opinion!
You will pick a fabulous arrangement, I am sure!

Hi Sarah, I really like option 2. I’m not a huge fan of leather, but I know it’s comfy. And I do really like that chair. Also, personally don’t think a coffee table is necessary (option3) if you have a couple smaller tables. Can’t wait to see what you choose!

  55. 11.5.20
    Bev Huffman said:

Option Two-The furniture style marries with the space design. A lot of neutral, so a little splash of muted teal might compliment the neutrals while being gender friendly. The area would have the look of a den while still providing an awesome kid hangout space! The area was well designed, great job!

I love option 1 or 4 personally! 4 is a little busier but I still think a darker couch is the way to go! Can’t wait to see it once’s it’s done.

I love them. But you have to remember you have moved to the country and want animals and your children outside. They are going to need a place to be country. I do love your home but I have lived in the country for most 80 years and raised our children in the country and know it will be hard to keep everything white. Looking forward to seeing it completed.

Option 1. I loooove it and it looks like your upstairs! Unless you want something different!

I love them all but to me, option 3 looks the most like “you” and your style. 🙂
Just my opinion, and again I think they are all great. Enjoy your new home!

How fun! I’m loving option three because that Buffalo check chair looks so cozy, but option two also has that awesome vintage look leather chair that appears to be a recliner! Hard to chose!
