Well hello there and happy Good Friday to you! Can you believe it’s almost Easter? These past few weeks have been such a blur and it honestly doesn’t even feel like Easter should be here. Anyone else feel that way?! It’s such a weird time right now. But either way, I’m ready to celebrate the risen Savior. We colored Easter eggs yesterday and the kids are SO excited for our egg hunt in the backyard. It’s one of my favorite traditions and I can’t wait to enjoy the day with my sweet fam. Anyway, today I want to share my favorite faith based books. All of these have helped my faith grow in one way or another, so I figured today would be the perfect day to share them!
Over the years I’ve read several great faith based books, but I picked these six to share today because they’ve been especially helpful in times of stress and anxiety. I’ve struggled with anxiety over the years, but nothing calms my fears more than my faith. These books have taught me so much and truly helped me grow–especially in times I really needed it. Hopefully these are helpful for you too!
When the Enemy Strikes by Charles Stanley: I have about twenty pages left in this book, but it’s really changed my thinking in profound ways. I know that probably sounds dramatic, but it’s true. With the help of this book I’ve realized how I can better harness the power of Jesus to fight back when it comes to my worries and anxiety. And what I love is that it gives specifics strategies rather than generalizations. This faith based book definitely brought out the tears from time to time–it’s pretty powerful stuff. See it HERE.
Anxious for Nothing by Max Lucado: I read this book a few years ago, but it’s still one of my favorites when it comes to fighting anxiety. One of the best parts of this book is the simple reminders to focus on the good in our life and stop dwelling on the less perfect parts. He says each day we have a choice: we can wear our hurt or wear our hope. There are lots of great nuggets of wisdom in this book! See it HERE.
Fervent by Priscilla Shirer: This is another great book about the power of prayer. Priscilla Shirer is awesome and her passion about developing a strategic prayer life is really inspiring. Every chapter shares how to fight back against the enemy and overcome our own battles with intentional prayers. See it HERE.
Uninvited by Lysa TerKeurst: This is a book I honestly didn’t think I needed to read. But I kept hearing good things about it, so I finally caved and ordered it. And holy smokes, it was definitely a book I needed to read. It opened my eyes to the fact that Jesus is with me through every single situation in my life and His plans are better than my plans. Even when I feel left-out or overlooked, He is there. And acceptance from others is nothing in comparison to acceptance from Him. I loved it. See it HERE
Draw the Circle: The 40 Day Prayer Challenge by Mark Batterson: My mom introduced me to this book and to be honest I was a little reluctant to read it. But I’m so glad I did because it helped strengthen my prayer life at a time I really needed it. It’s kind of like a devotional–each day you read a few pages and there is a prayer prompt to focus on. The author shares personal stories of how prayer changed his life in amazing ways–it’s very inspiring! See it HERE.
Everyday in His Presence by Charles Stanley: I’ve raved about this devotional a few times now, but it’s seriously the best devotional I’ve ever had. It’s especially perfect right now with all the craziness happening in the world–it seems like so many of the passages hit home perfectly for what’s going on right now. Highly recommend it! See it HERE.
I’m certainly no expert when it comes to faith and I’ve made my fair share of mistakes over the years. But these faith based books have helped me grow and love Jesus more and more over the years. I’m grateful to have tools like this to teach me new ways of thinking and inspire my heart to dig deeper. Anyway, I’d love to hear what faith based books have made an impact on you. And I hope you have a great Easter! xo

What a wonderful blessing to read about your faith life. The book list is especially helpful. I’m brand new to Pinterest. But not to our Lord!

Thank you for the recommendations. I am currently reading The Message by Eugene Peterson. I decided I wanted to read the Bible in it’s entirety. This book makes it easier to read through. Sarah, stay safe. Happy bunny 🐇to all, love your loyal friend. 🙏🐰🐥

I love the Lord, too, and I’m reading Fervent right now. I also have been listening to Charles Stanley. I think it is important to keep positive things on our minds in the midst of the time we have this virus challenge. This Easter is very special and a time we can nurture our spirits with great reading like you recommend and time in the Word to grow.

Thank you for sharing! I’m the worst at finishing books but now with all this time I am able to buckle down and dedicate some time to reading. I love Priscilla Shire and Max Lucado as authors, I can’t wait to check some of these out!

Charles Stanley is a favorite in our home, as well. I enjoy Lysa Terkurst and since our tastes seem so alike I will suggest anything by Ann Voskamp! 1000 gifts and The Broken Way . I found both to be life-changing. God Bless you and your family

I love your suggestions of faith based books! I don’t read as much as I should. It’s Not Supposed to Be by Lysa Terkeurst is so powerful. It helped me deal with deep disappointment while waiting for healing. I shed a lot of tears as she shared her journey with her husband’s betrayal. So good!

Sarah I love everything about your blog and IG. I’ve really enjoyed you sharing your faith. Can you please tell me which Bible you use? You posted a pic yesterday 3 Jan 22 and it spoke to me so strongly. My KJV didn’t do that on the same psalms you underlined. I’m knew to the Bible and yours grabbed me. So I had to write. I messaged you on IG and tried to find a way to email you. I’ve bought all the books you’ve shared. Thank you so much for helping me learn about faith. Have a great day.
