This post is in partnership with World Market.
Happy Monday you lovely people! I feel like today deserves all the jazz hands because I’m SO dang excited to finally show you all our dining room makeover. Now if you follow me over on Instagram, you might have noticed that I mentioned this makeover a few times. We took this on in the middle of December, which made for a busy and exhausting month, but I’m so glad we did. We chose a new dining table, chairs and all of the decor from World Market–I actually shopped for everything online, which was super convenient. Plus I was able to stay within my budget of $1500, so the whole makeover was really affordable. I’m absolutely thrilled with how it all came together, so grab your coffee and come on in for a tour! Let’s get started with a little reminder of what this room looked like before:
And here it is now:
My main goal for this room was to create a simple and clean look, with the focus being on three main things: the dining table, chairs, and chandelier. This isn’t a big room, it’s actually pretty small, so I was really selective with what went into this space. World Market has an amazing selection of dining room tables, so we had lots of great options. We ultimately decided on the Rustic Java Greyson dining table and I couldn’t be happier with our choice. This looks like an antique to me–something that’s been in the family for years and years. It has some light distressing, just enough to give it that worn-in look I adore so much. And I think the combo of this rustic table paired with these tufted dining chairs gives the whole space an elegant farmhouse feel.
Can we just talk about this gorgeous chandelier for a hot minute? I mean, this baby deserves her own post for crying out loud. We switched out my old Craigslist light for this one and I couldn’t love it more. The hand carved details and the vintage feel give this a classic, glamorous look without being too flashy.
Another change we made was to add beadboard to the entire room. I am SO happy we decided to do this because it adds so much farmhouse charm. We also switched out our old curtains for drop cloth curtains. (You can get more info about those in my full review here.) We raised the curtain rod up higher, just to create the illusion of a taller window. I love, love, love this change. You might not think that the higher curtain rod would matter much, but it makes such a huge difference.
You guys, I have a small obsession with aprons. I think maybe it’s because they remind me of my mom and Granny–growing up they always wore aprons while cooking supper or baking, so they just bring back memories of those sweet, simple days of years past. The apron hanging there in the middle is soooo old, I think it belonged to my great-grandmother. The other two are from World Market, they have a really great selection of aprons to choose from. And this industrial rack is exactly what I needed to display them all.
I’m really excited to use this room more in 2017. It’s not something we’ve done much, eating in our formal dining room, but it’s definitely one thing I want to do more often. I’m thinking Sunday morning breakfast needs to become a weekly ritual in here. I can just see this gorgeous table covered in delicious food, with happy kiddos running around, sunshine streaming in through the window and of course bacon. Lots and lots of bacon.

Isn’t it a beauty?! I think I’ll be taking her with me if we ever move. Ha! Thanks for stopping by Lisa!
What about the lovely side chairs? I only saw info about the tufted chair. I have a Amish table with side benches and would like to make a change into 4 chair on the sides instead. Any ideas Thanks.
Hi there! Those chairs were actually a thrifted find. Believe or not I found them for free on Craigslist. I just cleaned them up and chalk painted them white. I have an entire post about those chairs: https://sarahjoyblog.com/friday-flip-farmhouse-chairs/
Where did you get the glass covered things on the table
Beautiful cozy transformation. I love the curtains…where did you find them?
