Master Bedroom Makeover + New Bed!

Hello hello and happpppy Monday to you! I’m so excited for today’s post because I’m sharing our master bedroom makeover!! If you follow along over on IG you might have seen us starting this process a couple of weeks ago when we decided to rip down the shiplap and repaint the entire room. I also ordered a new bed for the first time ever. We’ve had the same cheap pleather headboard since we get married, which was over ten years ago, and it was in bad condition. It had a giant rip on the side that I always covered up with a pillow. Needless to say we were due for an upgrade. So I finally bought a real, adult bed and I can’t wait for you guys to see how this room looks now!!

Master Bedroom Makeover

I know you’re probably wondering why in the heck we would ever take down that shiplap wall, but the honest truth is that it was in ROUGH shape. I did that project all by myself several years ago and it was in need of some major TLC. It looked ok in photos, but up close it wasn’t pretty. We decided to just take it down and see how the rooms looks without it. And I’m really glad we did. It definitely simplifies this space and now the focus is on that gorgeous bed!

New Bed

How stinkin’ pretty is this bed?! I’ve been looking forever for a new bed and I finally settled on this one. I just love the cottage vibe and I feel like it fits my style perfectly. And I gotta say, it feels so good to finally have a matching headboard and footboard. We are real adults now! Plus we got it on a major sale, which is always a win.

I also added in this vintage inspired botanical artwork above the bed. I picked these up on sale at Target yesterday and I love how they look in here. You guys know I’m a sucker for botanical art. Those gorgeous rose gold pillows are also from Target. And the floral print pillows are from With Lavender and Grace.

We went with Agreeable Grey by Sherwin Williams for the paint color and I LOVE it. It totally works in this room and it really pulls everything together in a very cozy way. Maybe one day we’ll add the shiplap back in or do some kind of headboard on that wall, but for now I love the fresh feel in here. Anyway, I’d love to hear what you think of this little makeover. And hopefully it gives you a few ideas for your own home! xoxo

My DIL just painted Agreeable Gray throughout their living areas. It’s interesting how different paint colors can look in different lights and with different furnishings. Enjoy!

Yes!! That’s so true. Gray is one of those colors that really changes with lighting, furniture, color of the floor, etc. It’s kinda a tricky color!

Hello, your room looks beautiful. I’m wondering if you could give me info. on your ceiling fan. I’m looking for a new one in one of my bedrooms and struggling with what style to use. My house is an older cottage and dark wood trim but want it to look clean and modern too. If you can share your ceiling fan info. this one may work for me. Any other ones you like that you considered? Also looking for a pale grey/light green color paint for walls if you have any suggestions there of ones you like. Thank You, I enjoy your blog : )

Wow I love it! Saw your video of you picking up the pillows from Target and I gota say I was’nt sure…… but OmG I love them. Especially with the others. mmmmm Love it. The bed is fantastic. My bed is pine and very similar in shape. I have wanted to paint it for so long, but hubby is old school. Never paint that wood. Maybe if I show him how beautiful yours is he”ll give in. Wish me luck. xoxo

    Hello Sarah
I love your new bedroom! Awesome job. Can you please let me know your thoughts on all white walls are only a “Fad”…I want to paint my front room and kitchen an off white and go with Shiplap too

    • 2.18.20
      Sarah said:

Hi Candy! I actually don’t think it’s a fad. I think white walls are more of a classic look that can stand the test of time. That’s just my opinion! But as I always say, do what YOU want in your home. That’s all that matters anyway!

Love the bed!!!! Love the grey paint!!! But please put the shiplap back, It would look so amazing with that headboard. I am putting shiplap in my master bedroom this weekend and I have a sleigh bed in cherry oak. The walls, trim, ceiling and doors are bright white. It was purchased by my mother in law about 4 years ago and now its mine. We had to brighten the room some how lolol I always wanted a white bedroom set and yours is amazing!!!! Enjoy your new retreat!!!
    Have an amazing day,
    Love your blog friend,

Very pretty room. Love the new bed. For some reason, it really bothers me to have frames hanging above a really curvy headboard like yours. It just doesn’t fit, though I see it all the time. What if you try a print with the lamps on either side of the bed and nothing up top? You could hang the third print somewhere else in the room to coordinate.

  22. 2.19.20

Love the new, simple look! and I hate to say this because I know I’ll be excoriated for it, but shiplap is so over done and for me, has lost its charm, unless it’s authentic, found-behind- crummy-sheetrock-while-renovating-my-vintage-house. Then I love it! Having your walls plain and painted really shows off the charm of that sweet new bed!

I just found your blog and I like your style. I’ve noticed the cream colored afghan you have on your bed and also saw it on your sofa from a 2017 picture. I have the very same afghan. My mother crocheted it for me many years ago. Where did you get yours?

Sarah, it’s all gorgeous–I love everything. One poster commented that you should reinstall shiplap on the wall, but I think that since your bed already has that look, it’s better like this. Very inspiring–thanks for sharing!

Hi Sarah! Just wondering if you have been happy with your new bed. It’s really beautiful and I’m thinking about buying it. It’s out of stock on Wayfair but I found it on another site. I would really appreciate your opinion now that you have had it for a while. Thank you so much!

    Hi Sarah,

I’ve been desperately trying to find this bed frame for months! The link no longer works because it’s no longer on the site. When I called wayfair they suggested I ask for you to look at your past purchases for the name and link in case it has an item number. Please please if you can pass along! I NEED this bedframe!

      Hi Melissa!

The name of the bed is heritage reeves standard bed. I just googled it and it doesn’t seem to be sold anywhere anymore, but that’s the name. I purchased from Wayfair but I believe Birch Lane is the brand. Good luck!! xoxo

What is the name of the bed? The link under “shop the room” does not lead to the bed – it links to all the wayfair beds.
