Living Room Then vs Now

We’re coming up on the two year anniversary of living in this home, which is crazy because in so many ways it feels like we just got here. But on the other hand, it feels like we’ve been here much longer than two years, which I know doesn’t make sense at all. Either way, the two year mark is approaching and it has me thinking about all the work we’ve put into this house over the last twenty-four months. We’ve done SO much, but the living room transformation has been one of my favorites. I dug up some photos of what that space looked like when we moved in, and I thought it would be fun to compare those to how it looks now.

Empty white box vibes, huh?! I took this photo on June 21, 2020 and I can remember feeling a solid mix of uncertainty and excitement. I was nervous because I didn’t love the house. It was not at all what I thought we’d be moving into–but there were so few houses with 10 acres on the market at the time. We really wanted the land, that was the whole purpose of us moving, so we went for it. I knew there would be a ton of work to do to give this house some character and charm. Here’s how it looks now:

It’s so cool to see these before and after photos side by side. Sometimes you don’t realize the progress you’re making until you step back and really look at where you started. And I think that’s true both in life and home renovations. It’s the little baby steps and little steps forward over time that add up to big changes.
