Life in the New House

Well helllllo there sunshine and happy Wednesday to you! I apologize for my absence over the last week or so–it’s been crazy town over here as we’ve been moving into the new house and adjusting to life in the country. It’s been exhausting and exciting all at the the same time. Plus the kids are officially back in school now, so these last few days have been a whirlwind to say the least. But I thought it would be fun to pop in quick today to share a few photos of how things are coming along in the new house! I’m still trying to figure out where I want furniture and how things fit in this new space, but I’ve had fun putting together a few cozy spots.

It’s been fun to see how my furniture and decor looks in the new house. I still have a long ways to go to make this place feel like home, but it’s already feeling cozy. I still need window treatments and I’m working on getting those done ASAP. I also have a long list of projects that are still in the works, but one day at a time, right?! I have plenty of time for all the projects and I can’t wait to share that process!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today and hanging out for a bit. I always appreciate it! xo

It’s so beautiful. So happy for your family! It’s coming along so quickly, both the construction and the decorating. I’m obsessed with your idea of throw pillows in baskets. An excuse to get more pillows AND more baskets!! I wish I could do blankets in baskets but my kitties would have them full of cat fur in 6.7 seconds. LOL. The pillows they will leave alone as long as there are no tassles. 😉

Will you put up curtains or mini blinds? I’d hate to cover those beautiful windows.
I’m always curious when seeing floating furniture as to how you read. Do u have outlets in your new floor or puck lights in the ceiling?

The house looks absolutely beautiful Sarah! Congratulations – I know it was a struggle, but all things worth having are worth waiting for and I know you put your trust and faith in God that everything would work out and it did. I can’t wait to see how you pull everything together 🙂 xoxo

I love what you have done so far and so happy you are using your old furniture. So many people buy new furniture when they move into a new home. I just adore yours and in fact I bought the recliner that you got from Walmart. When moving, just remember to not hurry yourself and take breaks. No time for a burnout.

Oh, Sarah, it’s coming together beautifully! It’s definitely a process. I love to decorate, but when we moved into our new house in April, it was overwhelming, and there were spaces that totally stumped me, but then I would have a lightbulb moment and realize I had something that would work. (I have a pretty big stash, lol!). I’ve had to be careful about donating items, because I almost gave away some things that I ended up finding the perfect spot for. It definitely helps to live in your space awhile to figure out how it needs to function for your family. As long as the kitchen, bathrooms, and closets are organized where you can find practical things you need for daily living, for my sanity I needed to focus on those areas first! Enjoy the process, and thanks for sharing your beautiful new home!

Wow, what a beautiful house. Those windows are magnificent, and the view of your land is truly amazing. I’m so happy for you and your family. What a wonderful place to raise your children and get into nature. I’m so jealous of all the fun you are going to have making this house into “your dream home”. Have a ball, but by now you know me, always take a breath, have a cup of coffee with our Lord and let his strength come into your body and soul. Lots of love and good wishes to you, Angela 💕

I love that seating area with the two chairs and the black cabinet!!! LOVE. Turning this house into your home will take time, and I’m happy to be along for the ride! One question: Do you really need window treatments right away? Looks like you have no real close neighbors, so maybe those can take a bit longer to choose instead of rushing? To make sure you get what is exactly right after you get your furniture and accessories chosen? I did blinds in our bedroom, because we needed the darkness to sleep, but every other window in the house was naked until I got the new furniture in. I’m so glad I waited. What I thought I wanted upon first moving in, was not what I wanted a few months later. I’m really glad I waited. Congrats on your new home!!! excited for you.
