How to Transition from Winter to Spring Decor

I know what you’re thinking right now. And I don’t blame you–it’s too early to be talking about spring decor. It’s only February 5th for heavens sake! And the high in Colorado yesterday was a whopping 18 DEGREES. But I can’t help it. I’m craving spring and already dreaming about summer. I know some of you are probably feeling the same way, so I thought it might be fun to chat about simple ways to transition from winter to spring decor in your home. I have a few tips that will help bring new life to your home for the coming spring season!

Add Fresh Flowers

One of the easiest ways to start transitioning from winter to spring decor in your home is to add fresh flowers! I got the flowers on our table from the grocery store and they add the perfect pop of cheer to the breakfast nook. And best of all–I found them on clearance for super cheap! I always check for marked down or clearance flowers before buying anything at full price. And if you don’t want to spend money on fresh flowers, there are tons of great faux options too!

Rearrange Your Furniture For a New Look

If your home is feeling dull and boring with the gloomy days of winter, try re-arranging your furniture to mix things up for spring. Move a chair, cabinet, or even a sofa from one room to another to get a brand new look. I absolutely LOVE doing this to help bring some new life to the house and it doesn’t cost a dime!

Add New + Inspiring Artwork

One of the best ways to give your home new life for spring is to add inspirational artwork. I know this isn’t the typical spring decor tip, but I feel like spring brings an awakening in our hearts and minds, so why not carry that into our home decor? Every spring I feel a renewed sense of energy and I think adding in artwork that gives inspiration for the year ahead is a great thing to do in our homes! I just got this new wooden sign for our dining room and I LOVE it. The quote is from Laura Ingalls Wilder: “The real things haven’t changed. It is still best to be honest and truthful; to make the most of what we have; to be happy with simple pleasures; and have courage when things go wrong.”

Here are a few similar signs I found on Etsy:

Add Potted Greenery

Ok, this one is probably obvious, but one of the fastest ways to transition from winter to spring decor in your home is with lots of faux greenery! Actually, real greenery is great too, but you know I love these little faux plants so much. I picked these up from Target the other day (they’re only FIVE BUCKS EACH!) and I love having them in this tray on our kitchen counter. They instantly give a spring-y, fresh vibe to the entire room. I say put them everywhere!

Remove the Extra Stuff

My last tip is to simply remove all the extra “stuff” from your home. Go through each room with a box and declutter your little heart out. I always enjoy doing this before spring and I think it’s a great way to just let your home breathe a little. Plus it clears up space and gives everything a lighter, airy feel, which is exactly what we want for spring.

How to Transition from Winter to Spring Decor

Well I hope you enjoyed these easy peasy tips for getting a new, fresh vibe in your home for spring! Like I said earlier, I know we’re still a ways off, but I say go for it if you’re ready. I mean, it’s your home anyway, so why not do what makes you happy, right? Right. Ok, I’m off to buy more flowers. Toodles! xo

Our winters where I live are constant rain and mud. I have decorated early for spring, and it is exactly the mood boost needed with all the gray skies here. I got a like-new leather chair with ottoman (from a thrift store), and that has replaced an old chair. I got nice fake flowers for the dining table, too. Your post is very timely!

Love it; I bought a ton of flowers this past week at Trader Joe’s so there are flowers in all rooms; I use the time change to always switch furniture and artwork.

Love the sign in your dining room, and I see that it’s from a local shop – is there anything else you can share about it? Is there a manufacturer or was it handmade? I’ve been looking for this exact quote for in my studio! Thanks!
