Friday Five: Thoughts on Flying, One Piece Swimwear, Spring Break Plans + More

Woooohoooo it’s Friday! And we’re officially on Spring Break. We have absolutely zero plans right now, but I was up late last night looking at last minute plane tickets to warm places like Arizona and Texas. Have you flown lately?? It’s been almost two years since I’ve gone anywhere on an airplane and in that time I’ve started to develop this weird fear of flying. It’s not good. I used to LOVE flying. Heck I went to Africa in my early twenties and it was the greatest experience ever. Twenty hours of flying didn’t even bother me. In fact I loved it at the time! But now the thought of doing that sounds like torture. It’s the idea of being trapped on the plane that freaks me out. I’m honestly mad at myself for feeling this way now and it’s something I’ve been praying about a lot. Fear is such a bully, right? Ugh. Anyway, I didn’t mean to ramble on about my fear of flying. Let’s chat about a few fun things from the week!

TIDBITS FROM THE WEEK

  • I just rearranged the living room a bit and put this bench behind the sofa. I kinda love it! This is where I had that console table for a while, but I always felt like it was too big, so I moved it. What do we think about the bench here?
  • My favorite tanning drops are on sale. (This huge bottle will last for months + months!) These drops were one of my favorite finds in 202o. Just mix a few drops in your moisturizer and night and wake up with the perfect tan. You can also use them on your body, but I’ve never done that.
  • Love this reminder about fear and trusting God.
  • The massive about of snow we’ve had lately has really delayed our progress on the chicken coop scratch pen. We have more snow coming this week too.
  • How cute is this greenhouse?! I wish it wasn’t so expensive. Also with it didn’t take 16 weeks to arrive.
  • Lots of Easter basket ideas from Amazon HERE.
  • I got this floral wallpaper for my daughter’s room and I’m hoping I can get it up soon!
  • This arched bookcase is super similar to the one I have in my living room, which has been sold out for months.
  • Rounded up some splurge worth planters from Anthropologie HERE.
  • I’ve been wearing this snap-up fleece a ton lately.
  • Rounded up some great one-piece swimwear from Target:

I flew last week for the first time since the pandemic hit to Jackson Hole, WY. It felt SO good to be back on a plane. The Delta attendants could not have been more kind, and they’ve gone to extreme measures to keep everyone safe. I pray you overcome the fear and can get excited once again to hop on a plane. I love your blog and sweet family.

I also developed a fear of flying. Not the being in the air but the claustrophobia of it.

Thank you! I also had a fear of flying. I would never get on a plane. Then one year my husband and I drive from mass to Florida and in the way home we hit every single storm there was from rain to ice to snow! We saw so many accidents! I thought we were never going to see home again šŸ˜© After that I said thatā€™s it flying canā€™t be half as bad!! Now I just bring a book and before I know it Iā€™m there!!

Sarah~ Love the bench behind the sofa! It’s confirming to see that you too, feel good moving things around in your home. A bit of Spring cleaning…. Rest assured it works especially, if a doorway is nearby! It gives people a place to sit and kick off their “flip flops” Good flow!

We are headed to Mesa, Arizona next week and I like you do not like flying at all! However prayer has really helped me. It helps me now that we fly more often as well. Also take along a really good book. Weather in AZ is really nice now. Hope this helps!

I flew in December and the plane was about half full. I don’t like being on top of people ever so flying to me is always “a thing” but it’s not fear, really. I think it’s a very personal decision about what you and your family are comfortable with. I’m far more fearful of those dang bathing suits you posted. I have pandemic body!! šŸ™

Iā€™ve always hated flying but Iā€™ve found if you take enough dramamine you donā€™t even know youā€™re on a plane. You may need someone to keep a eye on the kids and help off the plane when you land but itā€™s worth it. Lol

    Hi Sarah
My husband and I flew from Philadelphia to Myrtle Beach, SC last October. It was great! Granted itā€™s only slightly over an hour flight , but we felt comfortable and everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Weā€™re actually going again next month!
    Have a good weekend šŸ˜ŽšŸ˜Ž

I have flown all my life but several years ago I started to have a fear to fly. I have found taking Desmond 30 mins before the flight calms my nerves. I live in Texas and
My daughter goes to school in Boulder so I have been flying slot more lately. My motivation to see her helps and prayers.

    Good Afternoon Sarah
I love the bench 100 times more than the table behind the couch. I also love the baskets. The table was beautiful and I know you moved it to another spot, which looks awesome. Have a great weekend God bless…I love flying but not my husband. Of course we canā€™t go anywhere right now because of Covid

I have flown 5 times in the last year. The last being to Scottsdale a few weeks ago. All from DIA. Everyone couldnā€™t be any kinder! DIA is a hopping airport. Some weā€™ve flown into are ghost towns. Still lots of closed down airport restaurants & kiosks. So less people is a good thing. Just take lots of snacks, masks, spray disinfectants & activities for the kiddos if you decide to go. You will know if it is right for you & the family. Good luck!

Happy Saturday! Loving the wallpaper, and the new spot for the bench. I have a fear of flying too. In fact I wanted to be a flight attendant, but after 911 the fact of getting on a plane scares me. I hope you and your family have a great spring break and the snow stops soon!!

A little education and prayer really helped me get over fears of flying years ago. I read a couple of books about fear of flying and realized that I donā€™t like being wedged in tight spaces more than the actual flying, although that was there too. The books covered flight, airplanes, air personnel competency etc. (canā€™t remember the book titles). I also decided that if I chose not to fly, I would miss out on seeing loved ones and on adventure! So, I read the books, prayed and flew. The more I flew, the better it seemed. Now, Iā€™m always excited to go! And, I donated the books!

That’s awesome Holly, thanks for sharing. It’s the tight space for me too, which is such a bummer because it never used to bother me. I will looking some books!

Youā€™re welcome. Read a bit. Process. Just give yourself a bit of time and Iā€™m guessing you will resume flying, with less fear. I predict more adventures ahead!
