Family Command Center Essentials

Well it’s officially August. I know you already know this, but is it baffling to anyone else or just me? I know I say this all the time and you’re probably annoyed with me at this point, but holy crap how is this summer almost over?! I’m honestly sad about the fact that we are only days away from school starting. It just doesn’t seem possible, right?! I’ve already ranted in a previous post about how I hate the way school starts so early now, so I guess I won’t put you through that torture for a second time. But I can’t help but feel a little broken hearted today to think that our beloved summer is coming to an end. I just love having all of my kids home with me and I wish summer was a few weeks longer. Anyway, enough belly aching. Today I wanted to share some family command center inspiration for you guys since fall is just around the corner. I’m also sharing all the essentials you need to put one together in your own home. I hope this helps get you organized for the start of a new school year, even if you’re dragging your feet like me!

How to Create a Family Command Center

So last August I put together this small family command center in the hallway off our living room and it was SO useful. It was a great spot to keep our family organized and I loved having it in a place where we could see it everyday. I took it down when we had our house painted and I really, really need to put it back up pronto. Here’s a few others that I love:

Ok, so now that you have a few ideas, here’s everything you need to put together a family command center in your own home. Just click on the lower right side of any image below for more info!

Calendars–Every command center starts with a good calendar! I love chalkboard calendars that can be used from month to month:

Bulletin Boards–Because you need a place to tack important notes, tickets, reminders, etc:

Hanging Baskets + Cubbies–Perfect for storing school papers and other important paperwork:

Inspirational Signs: I love command centers that include something inspirational or meaningful. It’s a great way to remind you of what’s important in the craziness of life:

Well hopefully that gives you a good start on creating your own family command center! Thanks soooooo much for stopping by the blog today. I hope you have a fabulous weekend and I’ll see you right back here bright and early Monday! xo

Definitely Tina! And it doesn’t even have to be large to be useful. Good luck finding a spot for one!

It’s been weird here too lately. We’ve had a ton of rain and cool temps. I don’t like it!

Hi Sarah, really love your idea. My kids are grown but I could use this for dates that are important. Dr. Appts., Are our big thing .lol. Could also use just to know when different appts change or whatever is going on. Much neater than just a calendar. I really am going to try it. I do want to be more organized. Thanks Sarah, have a great week-end. xoxo
