Exciting News (We found new home!)
I have some super exciting news to share today–we are officially under contract on our new home!!! Eeeeek!!!! You’ll have to excuse my over-the-top excitement right now, but holy smokes this is actually happening. I can’t believe it. It honestly feels a bit surreal because we have house hunted for well over a year now. We love our current home, but our lot is smaller than we would like and the bedroom set up isn’t ideal for our family. We’ve spent so much time and energy looking for the perfect place for our family and we finally found it. It’s actually a new home on almost eleven beautiful acres! I’M FINALLY GETTING MY FARM.
The House
Right now the house is pretty much a blank slate (it’s still under construction) but I’m already bursting at the seams with ideas and inspiration. It’s an adorable little home that has just about everything we were looking for–it even has a white kitchen! It’s actually a bit smaller than our home now, but we have big plans for completing the unfinished basement and adding more space for our family. The chance to have nearly 11 acres is a dream come true. It’s difficult to find a good home with acreage in our area, so we are over the moon about having that much land. I’m already planning where I want to put my chicken coop and garden!
Our Journey to this Home
I have to give glory to God for leading us to this house because I was literally exhausted from house hunting when we stumbled on this one. In fact, the day BEFORE we found this house I was feeling particularly discouraged and kinda hopeless to be honest. So many homes we saw came close to being what we wanted, but for one reason or another nothing was the perfect fit. In fact, there was one home in particular that I loved, but in my heart I knew it wasn’t right for us. I kept going back to it over and over again in my mind (for over three months!) but we knew it wasn’t what we truly wanted for our family.
Finding the “right” home
Needless to say I was so frustrated, and it crossed my mind many times to give up on the whole thing. So last Saturday, I knelt down in my little prayer spot and fully surrendered the process to God. I gave it over to Him completely. I asked him to take control of our house search and show us where He wanted us to go. Then I wrote it in my prayer journal and felt peace about giving it over to Him.
The very next afternoon, while it was raining like crazy, I was browsing houses on Realtor and noticed a house that I had seen several times but always overlooked because I thought it was “too small”. But this time in particular I felt called to go see it. I showed my husband and he immediately reacted the same way. So in the pouring rain, we loaded the kids up and headed out to the house. From the second we pulled into the driveway we felt like it was the one. Before we even walked in the door, we knew this was where God wanted us. We finally found our farm.
I can’t wait to share more with you all as this process continues! We are hoping the house is completed within the next two months (at most) so things will be happening soon. Bring on the country life!!

We did house hunting for almost 5 years! We found a home we really loved but just could not get a meeting with the owners. After 13 months of negotiating we had had enough! We prayed and asked God to show us if this was our forever home or to show us that we needed to walk away. The next day we got a call from our realtor and met with the owners. Within 10 minutes we had a deal! The owners wanted to make sure we were right for their family home. Now that 167 year old home is ours and we have made 2 very good friends in the process! I look at Zillow constantly and we are about to put our house on the market. We don’t know if it will sell. We aren’t sure where to move. We are thinking to SC near my daughter.
