Architectural Salvage Wall Decor + Etsy Finds!

Do you ever just wake up in the mood for a project?! I do that a lot actually. It’s like my soul is craving some kind of creative outlet and I have to do something about it or someone will get hurt. Just kidding. (Mostly.) But I woke up like that yesterday morning, so I did the only logical thing one can do in quarantine–I went to the garage on the hunt for something to work on. I scoured around for a while before I came across an old piece of architectural salvage wall decor. It’s been sitting in our garage for a long time now, so I gave her a little makeover with matte black spray paint! It turned out so good. Here’s how it looked before:

If you’ve been around for a while you might actually remember this piece. My parents found it an an auction a few years ago and I painted it light blue. It hung in our bedroom for a while before getting moved to the garage to live a sad, lonely life. Anyway, here’s how it looks now with a coat of matte black spray paint:

So pretty, right?! I wasn’t sure about the black paint, but it really works well for this piece. I LOVE it.

Finding a spot to hang this was kinda tricky because it’s huge, but I ended up hanging it above our family photo gallery wall. I love how it ties in with the black frames. Plus it gives this whole area more pizazz! And pizazz is good.

This is such a fun piece and I’m so glad I gave it this little makeover. I’ve always had a thing for architectural salvage. I love old chippy corbels, wooden scallops, and antique ceiling tin. (Remember that awesome coat rack I made with vintage ceiling tin?!) I’m smitten with it all and I think it makes for really interesting wall decor. This piece definitely added some spunk to this wall and I loooove it!

Well thanks so much for dropping by the blog today. If you’re looking for some architectural salvage wall decor of your own, here are are a few finds from Etsy:
