A Few Favorites To Get Ready for Fall

Ok, I know you might be rolling your eyes at me right now with this blog post, because it’s still August and still technically summer, BUT we had the coolest, rainy weather for the first half of this week and it totally got me in the fall mood. I know it was just a fluke and hot temps are already back in full force, but that isn’t stopping me from thinking about the fact that fall is just around the corner. We’re only a week out from September folks and then it’s all about football games and pumpkin everything. You know it’s coming, so I figured today it would be fun to just chat about a few of my favorite things to get ready for fall. These are just a few simple little “comforts” that I love to have on hand once the weather starts to cool down. I have a random mix of goodies, here so grab your coffee and let’s hop to it.

The Best Fall Candles In All the Land

Honestly, the first thing I wanted when the weather started cooling down this week was a yummy smelling candle. What is it about cool weather and candles? They just go hand in hand and make everything feel so cozy and home-y. I think fall is the perfect time to grab a few new candles for your home. You guys know I have a full-blown obsession with Antique Candle Works, which is seriously the sweetest little small shop with the kindest people. It’s definitely my go-to place for candles.

This Fall Harvest candle is brand new (it was actually just released yesterday!) and it’s smells like fall heaven. Really, it’s absolutely divine. It’s a mix of vanilla, cinnamon, and apple. It basically smells like you have something delicious baking in the oven. It’s soooooo good.

I also love their Apple Pickin’ candle for fall (it’s one of my all-time favorites scents ever). It’s the kind of candle that smells good even when it’s not burning–it’s THAT good. And it’s actually 10% off for the month of August. Whoot!

Lastly I can’t talk about fall candles without mentioning Pumpkin Spice, which of course is another great scent for fall. If you love a good pumpkin candle, but you’re looking for one that isn’t too strong, this one is for you. It’s the perfect mix of sweet and savory. I loooooooove it.

Give Me All the Plaid

You know once the chilly weather blows in I’m running to my closet for all my flannels and cozy sweaters. This week I was living in this cute hoodie, but I also wore this super soft plaid shirt a lot too. I was so excited to pull this out because if you ask me, fall means football, pumpkins, and plaid everything.

I like this shirt because it’s not too heavy, which makes it a great layering piece this time of year when the temperatures are still a bit warmer. It’s great to throw on with a tank top and a pair of jeans. (I’m wearing these jeans.)

Here’s a few other plaid shirts I love:

Here’s few cute plaid scarfs:

And plaid throw pillows:

And of course I had to round up a few plaid throw blankets too!

Cozy Bedding

Earlier this week had a few nights drop down into the 40’s, which felt pretty darn cold. So of course the first thing I did was load up our bed with extra blankets. And then I switched to our flannel sheets because there is nothing better than a warm, cozy bed on a cool fall night. Flannel sheets are THE BEST.

Here’s a few cozy flannel sheets that won’t break the bank:

Crock Pot Yumminess

Cool weather always makes me bring out my beloved crock pot. I don’t use it very often in the summer, but once fall rolls around it’s usually going on overdrive. With the cool, rainy weather we’ve been having I actually made two meals in the crock pot this week. One was my easy green chili recipe and the other was one of my favorite meals ever, this delicious chicken tortilla soup.

Easy Crockp Pot Chicken Tortilla Soup

I also found a few other crock pot recipes that I am definitely going to try this fall:

Slow Cooker Teriyaki Chicken

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip (because football season is coming!)

Slow Cooker Apple Crisp

Herb Loaded Chicken Noodle Soup

OK, now I’m hungry so I’m to go make myself a snack, but I hope you enjoyed this round-up of what I’ve been loving lately to get ready for fall. I honestly don’t know when I’ll start sharing fall decor here on the blog–right now I’m thinking it won’t be for another couple weeks. But who knows! I just go with the flow until I get the itch to start changing things up. What about you? I’d love to hear when you start getting your home ready for fall.

Thanks so much for hanging out with me today. If you’re in the mood for fall decor, here’s a few posts you might like:

Ah I agree with so many things you mentioned in this comment! I feel like I’m an old-fashioned gal too, so I definitely hear you there. I usually don’t like to rush decorating for the different seasons, but sometimes I have to do it for blog posts. And I’d love to include a recipe with each post!! I would use my crock pot every day if I could!

Good morning Sarah ❤️ Your post was excellent this morning. My daughter is recovering from surgery so I am going to order her one of those amazing sounding candles. One of her favorite things in the world are ‘CANDLES’! I know receiving one that she hasn’t tried will boost her spirits. Thanks ever so much for introducing your friends on Pinterest with this line of candles. Have a beautiful “God” centered day. Blessings, Patty from Colorado
