Well helllllllo there and happy Friday to you!! Anyone else feel like this week went by super quick? I usually don’t feel that way, but this week seemed to FLY by. And I’m not complaining. I’m ready for the weekend, football, and relaxing time with the fam. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to start a new little series here on Fridays called the “The Friday Five”. These will be laid back, chatty, posts where I share five random things from the week or anything that’s on my heart. Kinda of like the old Friday Favorites posts I used to do, but this will be short and sweet. And also just a fun way to chat with you guys!
The Friday Five
- This week I set the goal for myself to not look at my phone for the first hour of the day. I actually got this idea from a video I saw by Mel Robbins on Instagram, where she talked about how important it is to avoid your phone for the first five to ten minutes of the day. She mentioned how every time you look at your phone to do something like check email or look at social media, you’re inviting the world into your mind, heart, and emotions. I managed to stick to my goal all week and now it’s something I want to continue doing as much as I can! I’m also challenging myself to not look at my phone for the last hour of the day too.
- On Monday I found a vintage, 18 drawer wooden cubby for $50 at one of my favorite consignments shops. It’s seriously one of my best finds ever and I can’t wait to show you guys what I did with it!
- I still haven’t ordered faucets for our new bathroom vanities. And it’s been like two and a half months. Terrible, I know. But I just can’t seem to find what I want without spending a FORTUNE. I had no idea bathroom faucets could be so expensive. I love this one here in vintage brass, but is it worth the money?!
- Last week I decided to stop drinking coffee in the afternoon. Sounds crazy, I know. But I measured out how many ounces I was drinking each day and I realized it was an insane amount of coffee. Like up to 64 ounces some days–I use huge coffee mugs! Insane, right?! I needed to slow my roll way down. So I’ve replaced my afternoon coffee with sparkling water–I like the Bubly drinks from Target. And so far it’s not terrible!
- The other day I asked my followers over on Instagram if they read blogs anymore. And I was surprised to see how many people responded and said they no longer take time to read blogs (or do so very little) and instead just go to Instagram or Facebook for everything. That honestly made me a little sad because I love blogging, but it does seem to be changing. Are people too busy for blogs nowadays? I’m not sure, but things definitely aren’t like they used to be–especially now with IG stories. It makes me wonder what the future of blogging looks like.
Reminders + Sales:
- My coupon for the pillows from With Lavender and Grace is still good! You can use “sarahlovesfall” to save 20% on any fall pillows.
- The big Erin Condren sale is still going strong if you need a planner or family calendar.
- My favorite wrap bracelets are buy one get one free!
Well thanks so much for stopping by the blog today! I love chatting with you guys, so I hope you enjoyed this post. I’ll see you back here on Monday! xoxo
I love reading your blogs. Keep it up.
I love reading blogs too
I don’t have Facebook or instagram. Please keep blogging! I love your style in your home and different ideas!
I don’t have Instagram and only look at Facebook about every 2 weeks. I only actually read one blog-yours. I would be sad if you stopped.
Thank you so much Michelle, I am grateful to have you here!! xo
I love reading your blog and save most of them to refer back to for decorating tips and inspiration! I don’t have facebook, so please keep up the blog!! I love that you openly share your faith – you are a true inspiration!
I really enjoy reading your blog. I wish you would come and decorate our home.
Enjoyed your post today, it was a great way to start the day. And you are right, once the phone is involved, so is the outside world. Stay relaxed and enjoy your day.
Get the faucets! You will be happy you did! Enjoyed this Friday post!
I’m thinking I will. Thanks Kellie!
I just found your blog recently and love it. Please keep blogging……
While I love social media and limit my viewing to weekly, I don’t necessarily read posts on Instagram or Facebook. However I can read your blog start to finish.
Keep blogging. We love your posts ❤️
Sarah, your blog is one I read everytime I see it in my in box. Keep up the good work. I definitely enjoy your writing. And I am going to try not checking my phone first thing in the morning.
Thank you Deb! I am so glad to have you here. xo
I think you should get the faucets!! They are on sale too😊
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!!
I think I should too Lindsay! It’s past time that I get that bathroom finished.
I found you quite by accident about a year ago Sarah! I enjoy your posts especially your clothing hauls! Keep on blogging! Get the brass fixture… beautiful! We’re having spectacular weather here in eastern Pa…enjoy the weekend 😎
Ah I am so glad you found me, Bev! Thanks for being here!
I enjoy reading your blog & agree with you on limiting your time on the phone. I have stopped looking at it at least an hour before going to bed & find i sleep better. Happy weekend to you!
YES, Ruth! I sleep better too when I’m not on my phone for that hour before bedtime. It helps so much!
I love your blog(and other social media). I read your blog every day and often refer back to it for inspiration.
Here is a similar faucet if you are concerned about the price
Kingston Brass KB1608AX Heritage 4-Inch Centerset Lavatory Faucet with Metal Cross Handle, Brushed Nickel https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000COJ29O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_e3mHDbH4BV42Z
Not sure if it would fit in your counter top.
Anyway you are inspiring , keep being you. Thank you for bringing joy to the world.
Hello, I love your blog! I don’t always have time to read them the same day, but I save all the email notifications and read them all at once when I have some quiet time. Instagram stories are fun, but I truly enjoy reading.
ah thank you so much Shannon! So glad to hear you enjoy reading the blog. xo
I read blogs and don’t do social media! I’m 39 and can’t stand it for lots of reasons! So please keep blogging, I love your posts!
Thank you so much Amy!! I’m grateful to have you here. xo
I truly enjoyed your post today and you have inspired me to not look at my phone so much. I waste way too much if my day on the phone. Thank you!
I agree with you Mary, I waste too much time on my phone too.
I do enjoy IG and Stories – but I REALLY like reading blogs. There are 4 or 5 that I read pretty faithfully and would certainly miss them if they were gone.
Ah that’s awesome, Denise! I love reading blogs too. I have a few that I always check in on!
Sarah,
I enjoy reading your blog, along with several others. Please keep it up. I love you decorating style and am always inspired by your home. Thank you!
p.s. Get the faucet.
thank you Melissa, I really appreciate that!!
I look forward to your blog posts and love that they are always short and sweet, yet filled with so much stuff. I don’t have IG (honestly, I’m starting to hate social media all together), so I really hope you don’t give up blogging. You do a wonderful job and are very talented. Happy Friday!!
Wow thank you so much Cynthia! I appreciate your kind words. xo
I love reading your blog! But I feel the same way.. it takes a lot of time and I often wonder how many people it still reaches.. but keep doing it!
I do read blogs still. I think my Bloglovin’ app is a total indulgence. 🙂
Ah that’s awesome Leigh!!
Love your blog! I prefer over IG. And yes to the faucet! I love the vintage brass that is coming out now. I have lots of shiny brass I took down and replaced with oil rubbed bronze. Anyway I can vintage the shiny up lol???
I love that it’s coming back too, Linda!! I’m just wondering if it would look good with the black tops we have in there??
I ❤️ reading your posts! When I check my email & I see yours, I open it immediately, & I’m not on Instagram. What consignment store did you get your wooden cubby at?
Thank you Diane!! I found it at a little shop here in my town. I’m sharing more about it on the blog tomorrow!!
Hi Sarah! I’m another that reads blogs and doesn’t do social media. So PLEASE keep your blog going! I love each and every one of your posts!!
Thank you so much Deedra!! Grateful to have you here. xoxo
I love the bathroom faucet set and believe it is well worth the expense. I also love the wrap bracelet and ordered one. I hope to receive a free one for my granddaughter. Lastly, I LOVE YOUR BLOGS—don’t listen to the naysayers.
ah thank you so much Teresa!! Glad to have you here. And so glad you were able to snag one of those bracelets. I love mine!
I didn’t vote the other night😕 but I enjoy your blog very much! I also follow you on IG and stories. I am amazed about how much you accomplish in your days. I probably relate closer to your mom in stage of life but enjoy watching your life and ideas. Thanks for your hard work!!
Thank you Mary!! I am so glad to have you here following along. xoxo
Hi Sarah. I love your blog! I am always reading it when I see it in my mail box. I have found some great buys as a result of your blog. For one, the white with black stripe maxi dress. Every time I wear it, I get a compliment. Keep up the good work!
That makes me so happy, Linda!! I love that dress too. Such a good find!
Love reading your blogs! Don’t stop. We could all use a good read of inspiration from you. Thanks for your time that you let us into your life of fun.
Thank you Jill, I really appreciate that!
Hi Sarah, I’ve never left a comment before but I felt moved to share this in response to your mentioning people read blogs less. Iam 32, stay home mom of 7 kids and I have never had a social media. Not once. Closest thing I could say I have is Pinterest. I just decided to never sign up because I think it’s more important to talk to the ones I know more directly. Feels more meaningful, and so much less distracting. Definitely helps keep me off the phone a lot. Having said that, there probably aren’t a lot of people out there like me (non media)- but your blog is still just as much important, and I know I read it and enjoy it 🙂 so chin up! I appreciate your blogs
Wow Kasey, I applaud you on that decision re: social media. Keep it up! That’s amazing and trust me, you will not regret it!! So grateful to have you here. xoxo
Love this idea!! I don’t read many blogs these days, but I do still read yours as often as I can. That opening line makes me think of Seinfeld. hellllllo!!
bahahah! I love Seinfeld!
Please don’t give up your blog. Not everyone can Instagram….
I look forward to reading these.
Plus I would love to know about the white dishes you got from Target about 6 months ago.
Thanks!❤️
Hmmm I’m trying to remember which dishes you are referring to. The ones with the scalloped edge? I don’t think they sell them anymore. I’m sorry!
YES the faucet is worth it. I don’t have Instagram so I do read blogs, which I enjoy
I agree Eileen, it’s probably a good buy!
I still love to read blogs. Don’t stop blogging please!!!! Love your decorating style.
Thank you so much Julie! xo
I’m not on any social media so I would be very disappointed if you stopped blogging.
Not planning to stop anytime soon, Jessica!! Thanks for being here. xo
I love the idea of not checking the phone first thing – definitely going to try that. I look forward to reading your blog so please keep it up! I have Kingston brass faucets that I LOVE – worth every penny!
Oh that’s good to know you love your Kingston faucet, thanks for sharing Trish!
Blogs are the only thing I read. I’m not on social media and never have been. I think it consumes your life to much. Life is to short, live your life in the now and your own life not someone else’s. Sarah I hope you keep on blogin (if that’s a word) I enjoy your blog and I hope there are many more blogs to come.
So much truth to that Roxanna! Social media can be a dangerous distraction.
I love reading your blogs as well like people have already stated 😊 You have great ideas and LOVE the idea of putting the phone down in the am and pm (need to get my husband into this also :)) Totally need to incorporate that into my life. Keep being adorable and Have a great weekend 😎
ah thank you so much Karen!! xo
I enjoy reading your blog, I love your decorating style and all the shopping information you share.
I always enjoy your IG posts too. Thanks for all you do for us!
thank you so much!
I am always so excited to receive an email from you! I am social media savvy and check Facebook many times a day but tend not to check Instagram more than a few times a week and twitter even less often. If I can’t take the time to read your email when I receive it I send it to a separate folder that I keep Pinterest updates and other blog post in so I can read them when I have the time to enjoy and focus on them.
I also think that some of my favorite bloggers get lost in the Instagram feed with post from friends and family or like Facebook you only see the top tier of the people you follow.
I do like that I find new influencers/bloggers from post on Instagram and enjoy the stories and photos but it seems so much more intimate to receive an actual email from my FAVS! Enjoy your weekend~
Ah thank you so much Mary Beth! I really appreciate you and all your support! xoxo
Hiya:)
Plz do a Morning/Nite routine.
I enjoy Favorites/Walmart/Target haul, posts as well as books/podcasts/Tedtalks etc of ppl u like..
Ty in advance
I’ll definitely plan on doing that soon!
No IG, Twitter, etc. for me here. Social media has morphed into a medium that, in my opinion, takes away from living in the present with the people you love in your life. I discovered Antique Candle Company from your blog! You have showcased your design journey for your home as well as personal style choices. I can appreciate the time you spend researching and passing along sources for all of us. Creativity is challenging and rewarding at the same time. Wishing you the best and balance. Always remember to have fun.
I totally agree with you Pamela, social media can definitely be a distraction from what matters most in life. Thanks for y’all your support, I am grateful to have you here!
I love your blog and so appreciate the time you invest in it! Please keep blogging!
thank you so much Penny!
I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of years. I really enjoy it. I also have no social media accounts except for Pinterest wish I am only on maybe once a week. I feel like constantly looking at my phone is a waste of time and causes me stress and sometimes even migraines. I wish people wouldn’t always be on their phones. Anyway I just wanted to let you know I love your writing and decorating. Thanks you so much.
Mary
42 year old mother, teacher, twin sister, wife
Ah thank you Mary! And I agree with what you said about being on your phone. It gives me headaches too if I do it too much!
Love reading your Blogs! Look foward to them.
thank you Dacia!
I put myself on a social media diet this summer and feel so much better for it! I actually prefer reading blogs. I can’t stand looking at tiny pictures on instagram, and really enjoy more of the in depth articles and more topics that can be covered in one blog post. And IG stories leave me cold, I don’t really care what someone has in their Target cart…. my time is very important. I do choose the blogs I follow very carefully, again, with the my time is important thing. I started out on FB, but tiny pictures! And it’s time consuming for the Admins to weed out the meanies, the sales pitches, etc.
As for your faucet dilemma… Girl, you use your bathroom faucets on the daily! They should bring you pleasure as well as be made with quality materials. So go for the ones you love, you’ll be using them for a long time! I hope you don’t stop blogging, there are MANY of us who enjoy blogs. Not everyone wants to be glued to the phone
Good for you Crystal! I’m glad you took that break. Social media breaks are very much needed! And you’re right about the faucets, they probably are worth the month. Just need to do it already!
Sarah,
I hope you don’t give up your blog….I find IG short and fast….like fast foods, but your blog is the prime rib superior dinner…much more enjoyable….in a world that seems to move faster and faster, it is a sarahjoyful moment I look forward to most…yours is the ONLY blog I read…if I can’t get to it that day, the next day is just fine. Worth the wait! Thank you for your commitment to it…whether once a week, or 3x it’s still the best thing I receive in my emails!!
❤️🙏🏻
Oh and I say spurge on the faucets…you’ve earned it mama! Unless you’re selling in the next two years, at $175 x2 divided by 24 months, it will cost only $14 a month to enjoy them! I loved that style too, but found a bronze one at Lowe’s I liked and got them….I’d say brand and views are important….reliable manufacturers are a blessing when it comes to something you use a lot. Personally I love Kohler products, but them didn’t have any I loved….so I got Moen and two years later, I have no regrets. Good luck!
You make a great point! I never thought about looking at it form a monthly expense type of thing. I should probably just get them ordered already!
Wow. Faith, I can’t even tell you how much I appreciate your kind and supportive words. You have no idea how much your encouragement means to me!! Sending you virtual squeezes. xoxo
I love your blog! I look forward to reading it during my down time. I am in a season of life I am not enjoying, reading your blog brings me joy! ( Get it “Joy”).
The dork from AZ.
Ah thank you Dina! Sending you hugs. xo
Hi Sarah!
I didn’t see your poll the other day otherwise I wouldn’t positively answered it!
I love your blog! I enjoy reading it and use it as a reference tool when I want to see something a again that you’ve talked about or a DIY!
Thank you for all the time and effort you put into this happy space!
thank you so much Angela, I am glad you enjoy it!! xo
Oh my goodness I’m mortified! I had a typo in my first comment!!!
**I WOULD HAVE answered positively had I seen your poll! Somehow I missed it!
Whew that sounds better. I love your blog and you. Thank you for all you do and the time and effort! I admire you!!!!
haha no worries girl I know what you meant!! Hugs!
I can’t read many blogs but look forward to yours for sure! I hope you don’t stop!!
ah thank you so much Ashley, I appreciate that!
I love reading your blog. Keep it up for us old timers!
Will do!! 🙂 Thank you Sally. xo
I’m new to your blog and Instagram and I have to say that I could never tire of the written word! There’s something so real about putting your thoughts into words and then to have the courage to share them. Maybe blogging will be the “new old school”, but I think it will always have a place <3 I have certainly enjoyed reading your posts!
ah thank you so much Samantha! And I agree with you–there is something special about the written word. Glad to have you here!! xo
Sarah Joy,
I don’t do Instagram but I do LOVE your BLOGS!!!! Keep up BLOGGING!!!! You are wonderful in all you do and share with us. Thanks for everything!!!!
jean
ah thank you so much Jean!! I truly appreciate your support!! xoxo
I love your blog Sarah!!
Thank you Sherri!!
I have started the routine of not looking st my phone for at least 1 hour I get up because of you. I love your Ig stories but blog seems more personal level. Keep up the great work.
That’s awesome you’re not looking at your phone for the first hour too!! It really makes a difference, right?
Loved your blog today.
A good quality faucet is worth the money. This one is a good price.
thank you Caroline!
Yes you should get the faucet! I enjoy reading your blog but I also watch your stories. I’m definitely closer to your mom’s age group but I love your decorating style and fashion try ons!
ah thank you so much Jan! Glad to have you here. xo
I read your blog every time you post. I haven’t got into social media and don’t plan to. Keep up the good work.
thank you Claudia, I am grateful to have you here following along! xo
I LOVE YOUR BLOG!!!!
thank you Valerie!!
Don’t stop the blog!
not planning to stop any time soon!!
I enjoy reading your blog, though I’ll be honest and tell you I’m a little late to the whole “blog” thing. Yours however I seem to really connect with and enjoy!! Please keep blogging
ah thank you so much, I am grateful to have you here!!
Please keep blogging….I love reading blogs! I have decided to get rid of all social media. One of the best decisions I’ve made!
Wow, good for you Verna!! I applaud you for that decision. You’re better off without social media!
I love your blog and have gotten so much inspiration from it! Thank you!
I LOVE my blogs! I would seriously be heartbroken to not start my day drinking coffee and reading blogs. I read a variety, mostly home stuff. I hate the trend to just IG. PLEASE don’t stop writing! Yours is favorite!
ah you are so kind Heather! I’m so grateful to have you here and I definitely don’t plan on stoping anytime soon. xoxo
About the faucet – think about how long and how often you use them. Buy the one you like rather than settling for another one and then regretting it! Also, I love reading blogs – the printed word is kind of my jam! 😘
that’s such a great point, thank you Lynne!!
Hi Sarah! I love your blog and always read it. I have learned so much from you and enjoy finding out about the products you endorse….like Tula (which I absolutely love) and Lavendar and Grace (how many pillows do I need?) and books you are reading, etc, etc. I am 64 and not on social media. Please keep up the good work on your blog. It is worth it to me.
haha! Sounds like you are my kindred spirit, Cindy. So glad you’re loving Tula and the WLG pillows!!
If blogs are anything like yours i can see why no one wants to spend the time. You repeat the same thing over and over and you are obsessed with yourself. You should try serving others for once and stop talking about faucets and maxi dresses.
Wow, nasty much?
Then why are you reading her blog? If you don’t like what someone shares, then just don’t follow them. She shares a lot of things many people enjoy and learn from. She is clearly serving her family and inspiring many of her readers Why would you take the time to read her blog and then leave a hateful comment?
I read only blogs. There’s so much more this way. Pictures, stories… Can’t stand Facebook and not enough info on Instagram lol
I agree Janet! And glad to have you here. xoxo
Please don’t stop blogging. Its so great because I can go back and read old blogs if I need to. Instagram stories is great but they don’t last forever and I can’t go back to them for ideas. Your blog posts are wonderful.
Yes, Debbie!! That’s a great point. I don’t plan to stop anytime soon!! Thanks for being here. xo
I love reading blogs! I use Feedly to subscribe & catch up on my faves.
that’s awesome, thank you Monica!
I really only read blogs. I will miss them if they go away. Maybe I need to comment more so you know you ate appreciated.
ah thank you Wendy! I appreciate you being here. xoxo
Sarah,
I greatly enjoy your blog. It’s the only once I read consistently. I enjoy your writing style and the various thoughts and ideas you have shared. I’ve also enjoyed seeing the blog evolve, over time. I’m not going to get an Instagram account and limit my social media. So, keep blogging, if you enjoy it.
I vote YES on the faucets!
thank you so much Holly!! It makes me happy to know you enjoy the blog. Grateful to have you here! xo
I still love reading the blogs ! It just seems more personal when some one takes the time to write out their thoughts instead of just the photos or quick one-two liners on Facebook. So I’m hoping your’s as well as others I follow sticks around. Thank you!
Yes! I totally agree with you Wanda.
I have maybe 3 that I read regularly. I pretty much check in with yours whenever you post one.
Although I tend to follow more on IG.
I agree with we’re all just too busy anymore.
Thank you Sandee! It’s crazy how social media has evolved and become so big, especially over these past few years. I don’t know if it’s a good thing or a bad thing!
I’m like Ada…I don’t have Facebook or instagram. Keep blogging! Thanks
thank you Shelly! xo
I love your blog so much Sarah! I have to admit that I have been more involved with IG for the past few months and I’m ashamed to say that I haven’t been reading the blog as often and I’m so sorry!!! It’s so easy to get caught up in social media and I love seeing your posts there and watching your stories! I promise I’ll do better about being here too! You have inspired me in so many ways, and I will be forever grateful for that! Love ya long time girlie! 💗
Ah Melissa, you are such a sweetheart. No need to apologize at all! I totally get it–we are all so busy. I’m just grateful to have you here whenever you have a spare moment to drop by!! xoxo
I love your Blog!
thank you Margaret!
I still prefer blogs over any social media. so don’t stop
Thank you Emma!
I love to read blogs. I don’t do Intagram and don’t plan to start. I don’t need a lot of social media in my life. Blogs and FB and You Tube are enough for me.
I love your blog and will continue to read it as long as you continue to post/blog.
That’s awesome! Social media can be a huge distraction in life. You’re better off without! Thanks so much for being here. xoxo
I LOVE your blog!! I read every one!!!!
ah thank you so much Sylvia!! xo
Great fun ideas, I did order a planner, us type “A”people have to write things down. I have used a planner for years love be this one. Thanks 🍁😎🤗
Oh yay! Aren’t planners the best? I can’t go a day without mine.
Hello, I love your blog! I don’t always have time to read them the same day, but I save all the email notifications and read them all at once when I have some quiet time. Instagram stories are fun, but I truly enjoy reading.
Ah you are so sweet to save all the emails!! Thank you Shannon, I really appreciate that! xo
I just recently found your blog & IG stories. Admittedly it was the dry shampoo in the eye that was shared is how I found you. I love your style, home, DIY, makeup tips and authenticity! Keep the blog & IG going! 💖👍🏻🙏🏻😎
Oh heavens that was one of my finer moments. haha!! So glad you found me, Liana! xo
Good morning! I hope to see blogging continue. Reading your blog is part of my morning routine. I like to read blogs with a mug of coffee before I get ready for my day. While I enjoy IG, I feel it’s quick snapshot. I enjoy your writing and having a blog to refer back to at a later date.
Yes Yes! Love Mel Robbins! Thank you for passing along. One of the executives at our organization recently heard her speak and has asked us to incorporate her 5 second rule. A game changer. Have a great day Sarah!
Yes!! I LOVE the 5 second rule!
Thanks for sharing Sarah! That faucet is gorgeous, and yes, faucets are crazy expensive, I have seen some I loved for way more than that (over $500!). We are building and I have been trying to choose and I also love the antique brass look with warmer colors. I feel like it’s more classic and less trendy than the shiny brass and matte gold I’ve also seen. As for blogging, I still love to read blog posts and actually prefer to read them in emails rather than on social media. I have unfollowed most of my FB friends, just because they share so much stuff I don’t care about or that causes me distress or anxiety, it’s about as bad as watching the news. Plus, it takes up way too. Much of my time to scroll through the news feed. I like IG but i’m not a big fan of stories at all; I guess I would rather read than listen to someone talk, especially since you can do that in public when you are waiting so either without bothering people around you. When I’m at home I need to be doing more important things than sitting around looking at my phone or tablet at social media. I enjoy the emails I get from my favorite bloggers and you are one of them! It’s like the happy, enjoyable mail mixed in with junk, kind of like when you get a card or letter from a friend in your real mailbox❤️
Such interesting feedback, Vicki! Thank you for taking the time to share that. I have to agree with you about watching stories. You never know what you’ going to see/hear and it can def cause stress and anxiety. I totally related! So grateful to have you here and all your support. I truly appreciate it!! xoxo
I was thrilled when you said that you would rather blog because I love your blogs. I spend too much time on Facebook and IG so I limit my favorite which is IG to very few follows and I hardly ever go on Facebook these days. Please don’t stop blogging!
I would be so sad if there were no more blogs, and yours in particular. It’s one of my favorite afternoon activities after I’m done homeschooling. I settle in with a cup of tea and check out my favorite home diy blogs. I save yours for last as a sort of reward, haha!! It’s such a treat and I for one, would be soooo sad if you stopped blogging. It’s so refreshing and such a blessing to have this little corner of world wide web sitting here waiting. Thank you for the time and heart that you put into your blog. It is very much appreciated!!
I so look forward to reading your blog weekly. So much technology out there, but this is one thing that I know how to do!! LOL! Thanks for sharing your ideas and thoughts!
I enjoy your blog too! I have really been thinking about taking a break from Instagram and FB…so please keep blogging! Aside from my kidz, I pop on instant To see 2 accounts and yours is one of the 2 😊
Blessings to you!!
Gwen
Keep on blogging! I love to read your posts and I don’t have Instagram!!!
Hi Sarah,
Regarding blogging, I’m not so sure that Instagram was the right audience to ask. I’ve noticed that most “influencers” share the same content across all social media platforms (which is totally fine). For that reason, I often will follow someone across the board at first but I usually end up unfollowing them on all but one platform. The platform I choose to stick with sort of depends on what their content is about (which I’m only now realizing because I’ve never really thought about it until now…). For example, influencers like yourself I tend to only follow on the gram because your content really lends itself to IG Stories. Someone whom I only find randomly interesting, I generally will follow on Facebook because it’s the outlet that I tend to scroll through the quickest. I actually only subscribe to blogs that generally provide me information that I want to refer back to at a later time. For example, an expert on growing my pinterest account, an expert on SEO, recipe bloggers..stuff like that. Outside of that realm, now that I think of it, you are the only influencer of your kind that I still subscribe to their blog. So boy that got long but the point I meant to make a while ago was that I think that each platform serves its purpose and has a target audience. Chances are that many IG followers don’t do blogs because they are generally redundant, but I bet there are plenty of blog readers who don’t need the instant gratification of IG and are perfectly happy to wait for your content to come out at a later time. If you stop blogging they might not see your content at all. It may be worth putting together a quick survey directed at your blog subscribers to get their perspective. Hope this helps. It’s an interesting topic!!
That’s really interesting feedback Melissa, thanks for taking the time to share that with me. And I agree with you–there are different reasons to follow people on different platforms. IG has become so huge in these last few years and it seems to dominate the game for a lot of folks, but I’m still a huge fan of blogs and will continue doing so as long as people keep reading!! Thank you so much for subscribing and supporting my little blog, it truly means so much to me! xo
Sarah, I really dig this blog! I am currently learning more about blogging and it really opens up the world to having constructive discussions. I look forward to seeing more content!
Hi Sarah! Well, as you can see i do read blogs and thats why i just read this one so late. I LOVE TO READ BLOGS!. Instagram and Facebook are just too busy and fast paced for me. I like to lay in bed at night and just read blogs. Now mind you, there are some i follow just for Furniture painting tutorials and crafts but blogs like yours give me cool things like skin care and decorating ideas and Walmart finds. Don’t give up blogging. Us older gals still read them.
oh yay that makes me so happy!! Thank you for taking the time to share that, Cheryl. xo
Sarah, where can i buy the two little floating shelves in your dinning room? I am looking to put some up in my master bath.
The ones who only look at Instagram and Facebook are the ones who look at their phone first thing every morning! I love your blogs and I don’t have to go through junk on Facebook to get it. Please keep it up, Sara Joy!
I have never been a big blog reader but since I found several people that post to instagram, and then link to there blogs I have started reading several and have really been enjoying them.
ah yay! Thanks for dropping by, Heather. xo
I love reading your blogs and seeing what great ideas you come up with..Keep it up!
Good afternoon –
I don’t know who reads what but I really like your blog – pics – everything –
this is the only one I follow –
Good for you –
I still read and follow the same bloggers that I have for a very long time.
I just wanted to say, I love your blog! I don’t like Instagram very much, if I like something I can’t save it. But I really just like to read. I’m going to check out the CBC oil now, because I read about it in one of your other posts. I hope you decide to keep it up!
