Simple Farmhouse Style Dining Room

So I finally caught up on this week’s episode of The Bachelorette last night and I’m in complete shock. I mean, is she seriously thinking about sending Luke home? How is that even possible? If you don’t watch The Bachelorette then you have no idea what I’m talking about right now. But high five to you for being a better person and using your time in a much more useful manner. In my defense, I like to think of The Bachelorette as simply a way to escape this crazy world we live in for a few blissful hours. Because really, we all need a break from reality and watching twenty-five men chase after one woman is the perfect way to do that. Right? Yes. Anyway, now that I’ve gone completely off track let’s get to what today’s post is really about: my simple summertime dining room. I’ve made some changes to this room over the past few weeks and I’m actually really liking it. Come take a look!

You’ve seen my vintage apron rack before, but that fresh eggs sign hanging there is brand spankin’ new. I recently made it and I loooove it. It was super easy, as usual.

Yep, that’s an old dresser in our dining room. I shared this photo on Instagram a while back, thinking I had crossed over into unchartered territory by putting an actual dresser in our dining room. Nope, turns out a lot of people have done this. And for good reason, I mean look at all that storage space! So much more than the table I had in this spot before. (Which is now in the basement, you might have spotted it in the tour I shared a few weeks ago.)

I recently got this wooden sign from the Vita Boutique. I wasn’t sure where exactly to put it, but I think the dining room is the perfect spot. I walk right through this room first thing every morning on my way to coffee, obviously, and it’s just a great reminder to seize the day. Take charge. Be positive. Practice gratitude. Chase your dreams. It makes me happy.

No, this centerpiece is not fancy. BUT these sweet and happy daises are from our yard. And daisies are my favorite flower. Simple is good my friends.

I’m going to be honest and tell you I don’t like this wall on the left. It’s been really challenging to decorate inside that old door up there, but I refuse to take it down because I love that door. I’m thinking a fun gallery wall would be great in that spot. What do you think?

So there’s our simple farmhouse style dining room, full of vintage treasures and spruced up a bit for summertime. As usual, I try really hard not to buy new stuff, but instead just use what I already have on hand. It’s amazing what a bit of rearranging can do to bring new life to any space. And I’m pretty sure I’ll be leaving the old dresser in here for a long time. I am loving the extra storage and the room actually feels bigger without that long table in here.

Let me know what you think of this room and what about that gallery wall? And please, if you’re a Bachelorette fan tell me you’re as shocked as I am about this whole Luke situation. I can’t be the only one in denial. Thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to track me down on Pinterest, Facebook & Instagram. xoxo

Such a beautiful dining room. I love all of the well-worn and loved pieces you added. It reminds me of a visit to my Grandma’s farmhouse.

A gallery wall would be great. A couple other ideas are a nice old mirror to reflect all the summer light around, or some sconces or little hanging bud vases to flank the piece there now.

Looks amazing! I’ve enjoyed reading your blog this summer. I’m a teacher in Missouri and love having the extra time to decorate our home with a farmhouse style. Your home is my inspiration! Also, love the gallery wall idea. I have one in our formal dining room!

I am SO SHOCKED about Luke too. By far my favorite guy….but, I wouldn’t mind seeing him next season as the bachelor. I’m sure producers will have him in mind if he doesn’t win. LOVE your dining room and your whole house! The gallery wall is a great idea for inside the door. Lots of sepia-toned pics would go great with the vintage feel! Good luck!

I totally agree Emily! I think Luke would make a great pick for the next bachelor too. Maybe that’s what is happening here and ABC is just trying to pull a fast one on us?!

Hi Sarah, I like the wash board with the small wreath. Keep it as it is so cute and I know you can change it for different holidays. Keep the dresser in the dining room. It goes perfect in there. Do you have a craft room? I need some ideas in the area. LO Thank you for sharing. Love your home.

Thanks Jonita! I don’t have a craft room actually, but I’d love to convert one of our spare rooms into one someday. Good luck with yours!

Absolutely beautiful! Please tell me you will be including a tutorial soon of your “fresh eggs” sign (links to where you find your metal letters!). I like you love your door as well but a gallery wall may be just the thing!
