Organize With Me: Kitchen Pantry

I don’t know about you, but I’m in the mood to get my house back in order after these last few weeks. December kinda felt like a whirlwind, so I’m ready to start January with some deep cleaning and de-cluttering of all the things. I actually ordered a whole bunch of organizing bins and I’m kinda geeking out over all the different spaces I want to clean up. I guess you know you’re an adult when organizing is exciting. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to do this as a new little series on the blog–every Monday in January we’ll organize a different space. First up is the kitchen pantry! It looked like a bomb went off in there, so I thought this would be a good place to start. Ok, let’s get to it. Here’s how the pantry looked before:

I know. It’s awful. But in my defense there are five of us living here and well, we are messy. First up, I started by pouring a cup of coffee and reciting a few encouraging words to myself. Then once my courage was up, I removed everything from the pantry to clean the shelves.

This is where it gets worse before it gets better. At this point I was really questioning my life choices, but this part of the process is important. I threw away anything that was expired, excessive amounts of junk food, and anything we didn’t need anymore. That helped narrowed down the pile. I also moved any canned goods that had made their way into the pantry back to the lazy susan.

Then I started putting my organization containers in the pantry to help me figure out where things should go. Here’s how it all came together:

Ta da! Much better, huh? It’s nothing super fancy, but I can’t even begin to tell you how good it feels to have this pantry organized and no longer looking like a bomb went off in there.

This is my favorite area of the entire pantry–the SNACK SECTION!

It took me about two hours from start to finish to organize my pantry. Perfect little afternoon project. And now I’m just hoping we can keep it looking like this for at least a couple months. Fingers crossed. I also rounded up some pantry/food storage bins in case you’re also looking to organized your pantry!

PANTRY ORGANIZATION FINDS:

Sarah here! Nice to meet you. I’m a mama to three, wife to my high school sweetheart and accidental blogger. We recently moved to our little homestead on ten acres and we're loving the small town life in Colorado. I hope this space can inspire you to create a home you love and enjoy the simple moments the most.

I did the same thing Sunday! Not just my pantry, but medicine cabinets, linen closet, and cupboards. What a wonderful feeling! I’m looking forward to your organizing tips. N

      Looks great!
I totally re-did my pantry last year & now it’s my favorite storage space!
This year I tackled the refrigerator & laundry room. Feels good when it’s done.

I was wondering about the cans as well. Can you share a picture of the lazy susan? Is it built into a cabinet? We have a lot of cans, and it’s such a hassle to rifle through trying to find the can I need. Whatever I’m looking for
always seems to be in the way back! lol

Belated Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to you and yours. I had gotten sick right before the holidays and wasn’t able to wish you and others good wishes. I was thinking about you when I heard about the horrific fires, so happy you weren’t touched by such a tragedy. Anyway, going to love this series of organizing, I have always been a bit of a geek myself. Also, I didn’t get a chance to tell you but your home is and was absolutely amazing decorated for the holidays. Stay well dear Sarah, love and hugs Angela 💕🙏

    Hi Sarah,
I loved how you just put everything out there and wasn’t afraid to show us your pantry before it was organized, altho it wasn’t that bad before:):). I too have been in an organizing & decluttering mode after the holidays. I do not make resolutions and like you I want to see where the Lord leads, be obedient, trust Him and “persevere”. to not give up on my clean eating, downsizing & getting organized. All three will give me a sense of freedom inside.
I too, love that song by Tasha!
Hope you have a beautiful & blessed New Year.
    Blessings
    Linda
