New Kitchen Tile Progress!
If you’ve been following along over on Instagram the past few days you might know that we are currently in the middle of having new tile installed in our kitchen. I’ve been dreaming about doing this project for years now, so I’m kind of in disbelief that we’re actually doing it! I’ve been sharing little updates on IG stories every day, but I know many of you aren’t on social media, so I wanted to pop in today to share a few photos of the progress so far. Of course I’ll do a post once everything is completed, but I also think it’s fun to share the process as well. Okie dokie, here’s at look at the old kitchen tile and a small sample of what we’re doing:
Eeeek! Isn’t is pretty?! I’ve always loved black and white mosaic tile. I know it’s not for everyone, but I feel like it gives any space so much character, plus the black and white is a timeless look. That tile sample is actually from Home Depot and even though it’s not exactly the tile we are going with, it’s super similar. I used this little square to help me envision how things might look when it was finished.
Demo started on Sunday and for this project we decided to hire contractors to do it for us. Laying tile floor isn’t something we have experience with, so we saved up our pennies and decided to let the professionals handle this one.
Next up was laying the subfloor that goes under the tile. This took longer than expected because apparently our kitchen floor is very uneven in a few spots. Just another fun thing about living in a house built in the 1980s! Finally on Tuesday the tile started to go down. Here’s how it’s looking so far:
Such a huge change, right?! I am already LOVING this new floor and I cannot wait to see how this kitchen looks once everything is finished. I’m just so excited and thrilled to finally be doing this project–I’ve been dreaming about this for years now! Anyway, I’m hoping everything is finished up by this weekend. so I will definitely be sharing a look at the finished kitchen soon!! Stay tuned!! xo

I would love this in my kitchen too but I think someone else would shot me if I suggest it….lol ..we have tile running in our kitchen, hall and main bathroom the same.
