New Kitchen Tile Progress!

If you’ve been following along over on Instagram the past few days you might know that we are currently in the middle of having new tile installed in our kitchen. I’ve been dreaming about doing this project for years now, so I’m kind of in disbelief that we’re actually doing it! I’ve been sharing little updates on IG stories every day, but I know many of you aren’t on social media, so I wanted to pop in today to share a few photos of the progress so far. Of course I’ll do a post once everything is completed, but I also think it’s fun to share the process as well. Okie dokie, here’s at look at the old kitchen tile and a small sample of what we’re doing:

Eeeek! Isn’t is pretty?! I’ve always loved black and white mosaic tile. I know it’s not for everyone, but I feel like it gives any space so much character, plus the black and white is a timeless look. That tile sample is actually from Home Depot and even though it’s not exactly the tile we are going with, it’s super similar. I used this little square to help me envision how things might look when it was finished.

Demo started on Sunday and for this project we decided to hire contractors to do it for us. Laying tile floor isn’t something we have experience with, so we saved up our pennies and decided to let the professionals handle this one.

Next up was laying the subfloor that goes under the tile. This took longer than expected because apparently our kitchen floor is very uneven in a few spots. Just another fun thing about living in a house built in the 1980s! Finally on Tuesday the tile started to go down. Here’s how it’s looking so far:

Such a huge change, right?! I am already LOVING this new floor and I cannot wait to see how this kitchen looks once everything is finished. I’m just so excited and thrilled to finally be doing this project–I’ve been dreaming about this for years now! Anyway, I’m hoping everything is finished up by this weekend. so I will definitely be sharing a look at the finished kitchen soon!! Stay tuned!! xo

Are you doing this yourself or did you hire someone? Iโ€™m considering doing ours by ourselves. Just curious ๐Ÿ˜Š

You give such positive energy and inspiration for creating a beautiful home! The floor looks amazing! Thank you for the vibes. Can I ask what color are your cabinets painted? And, is there a white you would recommend for kitchen cabinets?

  • Mom finished her first 10k ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป It was such a fun day & Iโ€™m honestly so glad I decided to challenge myself & do this. Sure, it was only 6.2 miles, but this race (and all of my running leading up to it) was one of the first things Iโ€™ve done for myself in a loooooong time. My health has totally been on the back burner since having my third baby. But three months ago I started running to help with my anxiety & worry-about-all-the-things syndrome. I fell in love & itโ€™s been SO good for me. Running is one of my favorite things to do now ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป I want to encourage all of my fellow mamaโ€™s out there to make time for yourself. Do something for YOU. Take the class. Book the ticket. Go for the run. You are worth it! โค๏ธโค๏ธ
  • Cheers to the weekend, coffee in bed + sunshine in the forecast ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿปโ˜€๏ธ Our snow is melting, which is GOOD news because my first 10K is tomorrow. Eeeek! • Breaking News: It snowed in Colorado today โ„๏ธโ„๏ธ Normally Iโ€™d be less than thrilled about this kind of thing, but I figure why not have a little fun. Sometimes you just gotta accept what you canโ€™t change & make the best of it, right?! Besides, doing a live weather report in the freezing snow is pretty fun. (watch my stories if you missed it!) Happy almost-weekend buddies! โค๏ธ
  • Itโ€™s totally normal to carry around a pumpkin in October, right?! And by normal I mean awkward. Because thatโ€™s what I do best. Clearly. ๐Ÿ™ˆ I shared a quick decorate with me video in stories yesterday + we styled this cabinet for fall ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ‚ I also have a new blog post up today & itโ€™s 10 affordable fall finds from Amazon.
