New Farmhouse Cabinet in the Entryway

OK, first off–it feels like forrrrrrrever since I blogged about our entryway. Seriously, I can’t even remember the last time I shared this space. Maybe Christmas? Last fall? I have no idea. I could look it up to know for sure, but I honestly don’t feel like doing that right now so we’re just going to roll with it. Either way I know it’s been a long time. And to be real, that’s mostly because this little entryway really frustrates me. It’s very narrow and there’s not room for much more than a chair or small bench. It’s just always been one of those annoying spots that nothing fits in very well, so I’ve kind of neglected this area for a while. BUT not anymore! After months and months of searching for the perfect cabinet for the entryway I FINALLY found it. It’s not too big. Not too small. And as Goldilocks would say it’s juuuuust right. I styled it up and I can’t wait to show you guys how it looks!

All right, you’re probably thinking what’s the big deal about this cabinet. I mean, it doesn’t look like much, right? But it’s honestly EXACTLY what I’ve been searching for. I wanted a simple cabinet here to style pretty things and add more interest to this small entryway. I remember last year at Christmas wishing I had a cabinet like this to decorate with tiny trees and Christmas-y things. But I couldn’t find one that fit–most were too big. But this little guy is the perfect size!

That vintage suitcase is one of my favorite things, but I never really share it here on the blog. My mom found it at a yard sale for me a few years ago and I love it. It even still has the luggage tag (which says Denver!) on it. I imagine that’s from back in the day when you didn’t bother with security and just walked straight out to the airplane sitting on the tarmac!

The Sweet Lemon candle, which is the most amazing scent for summer, is from Antique Candle Works!

I picked up this wooden tray at a local shop and I am obsessed with it. Doesn’t it make the cutest little garden caddy? I love it. And it’s the perfect size to sit on top of this cabinet.

I had so much fun styling this entryway. It definitely has a strong summer vibe going on right now and I can’t wait to mix it up as the seasons change. Although if I’m being honest, I would be 100% happy with summer decor all year round. Have I told you guys how much I love summer?! Because I do. A lot.

Thanks so much for stopping in and checking out my new purdy entryway. Here’s a few other posts you might want to hop over to:

Your new cabinet is adorable! I only wish you had shown more of the way the feet are on it. You did a beautiful job of decorating as well. I love the tray and everything else really. Where did you get that white pot? It’s really cute. It all goes very well together. Honestly, I am not at all a summer person but I do love gardening things very much and this just fits the bill. Great job!

The cabinet looks great! Just curious… Is all of the greenery real or faux?

Thanks Kathy! It’s all faux except for the pot on the bottom shelf. It’s real and STILL ALIVE. It’s a miracle.

It looks so good with all the happy summer sitting on it. It is very hard to find small cabinets for small areas. I have looked for a long time for a small cabinet for my bathroom it’s long and narrow.

Looks great! I am struggling with creating my “entry” area because we walk straight into the living room with no real “entry”! However, my wall looks like yours minus the fireplace so my challenge is it is long. I would like to incorporate a place to sit AND a buffet or table. Any suggestions would be so appreciated!

  • I can’t believe it’s already been three weeks since our trip to the Silobration. 😍😍 I was so glad my husband could go along with me & I love this shot of us—standing in muddy puddles & soaking wet, but happy as can be. I am so blessed to do life with this guy by my side for over 16 years now. 🙏❤️
  • Rise & shine, it’s coffeeeeeee time! ☕️☕️Can you believe Thanksgiving is only two weeks from today? TWO WEEKS. Time to get yo stretchy pants ready!! 🙌🏻 I’d love to know what Thanksgiving traditions you have in your family. I’m looking for new things to do with the kids & I’m curious if you do anything special or unique to celebrate the day?! 🦃
  • You guys told me you love before & after shots, so here’s another one for you. Swipe right to see how I styled our breakfast nook when we first moved in three years ago. This was actually after I painted the walls, they were dark brown before, and I was pretty happy with how it looked. 😬Obviously we have since updated a few things in this space—I added faux shiplap (it was my first big project & I was so proud I did it all by myself!) and then I added a new light fixture, a different table, shelves, etc. .
.
The thing that strikes me the most with these two photos is the difference in my style. At the time I was struggling to figure out what I liked & how I could make that work with a tight budget. It didn’t happen over night, but slowly things have evolved in this space & it looks totally different today. And if you think about it, that’s kind of the cool thing about life. Nothing we do is ever perfect when we just start out. There are bumps in the road, struggles, growing pains, etc. But as time goes on we (hopefully) evolve to be better than when we began. And even though it’s nice to get to the pretty after photo, especially if you’re impatient like me, it’s also kind of nice to appreciate the journey. Yes, that’s cheesy as heck. But it’s TRUE. I love looking back at these photos of when we first started out because it reminds me of the journey & how hard we’ve worked on our home. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m grateful for it all!
  • Today was crazy/surreal/awesome all at the same time. I spent the day working on a project that totally took me out of my comfort zone, but it went so well & I’m happy I decided to push myself & do it. (Watch my stories to see what I’ve been up to!) Then when I got home I had this smiling baby waiting for me at the front door. My husband snapped this picture of us & I just love the look on her little face. This girl is attached to my hip all day every day, so she was very happy to be back with mama. 😍😍 Now it’s time for pizza & cozy clothes!! 🙌🏻🙏
  • I’m still a little ways off from jumping into Christmas decor, but I did pick up a pair of these eucalyptus & pinecone wreaths from Target yesterday. I loooooooove them & now I’m getting a teeny tiny itch to add a few more pops of Christmas into this room. BUT I’m going to hold out a little longer. Anyone else still holding onto pumpkins or have you started to deck the halls?!
  • #flashbackfriday to one of my favorite snapshots with my girl. I can’t believe this was almost a year ago 😭😭 This sweet pea is my little BFF & I shared in stories today about how she teaches me to be brave. I hope you watch it if you’re facing something big in your life right now. It’s a simple, yet powerful reminder that fear is choice & you can face anything in life if you simply make the decision to be brave. #goforit #getthatcandygirl
