My New Antique Cabinet + Front Room Look

This past weekend I did something I haven’t done in MONTHS. I went antiquing!! And I gotta say, it felt so good. I took the little miss with me and we had the best time browsing through one of my favorite antique shops. I was on the hunt for a new cabinet or bookcase for our front room and Lady Luck was on my side because I actually found one. And I LOOOOOVE it. Seriously, I haven’t been this excited about a new antique find in a long time and I’m pumped to share it with you guys. It’s the perfect size and it just has so much character.

Isn’t she cute!? I was literally giddy with excitement when we first brought her in this room. I just love it! It has a very charming, dollhouse look to it and I feel like it suits this room really well. I had so much fun styling it with old books and a few vintage pieces like that old clock. I’m smitten!

I can’t seem to find anything online about this particular cabinet, but I think it’s from the 1930s. Maybe even the 1940s. I love the arched top and all the details. It’s actually one piece, not two, and it’s pretty much in perfect condition. Plus it was already painted white when I bought it. I think it was meant to be!

I also freshened this room up with new accent chairs!! Well, actually I had one of these down in the basement, so I brought it up and then ordered one more so I’d have two in here. I got it when it was on a really good sale and it came right before Christmas. This room is so much more cozy now and lately I’ve been sitting in here every morning with my coffee.

I gotta say, lately I’ve found a new appreciation for our home–one that I honestly haven’t felt in a while. And to be real with you, I didn’t feel it for a good chunk of 2019. I just didn’t feel inspired by our home or super motivated to take on a lot of new projects. I was burnt out with projects and you guys might have picked up on that. I had a lot of fun sharing other things, but I did miss having that passion for our home. However, over the last few weeks I’ve started appreciating it again and I’m SO excited to take on new projects this year, try new things, freshen up the decor, and just share all of that with you guys. Getting this antique cabinet and switching up this front room was really the start of that and it’s a good feeling. Now I’m buzzing to get some projects done. First up is finally finishing our master bathroom makeover, which I started last MAY. That’s coming sooooon!

Thanks so much for dropping by today. I’m always grateful when you spend part of your day here with me. xo

Love the new cabinet Sarah! I was also wondering where you put your washstand! I love seeing new changes in rooms! That kind of stuff makes me giddy too, I guess that’s why I follow the home blogs! Unfortunately I don’t know anyone in real life that enjoys this stuff the way I do! Thanks for writing Sarah, keep it up! Your home is just beautiful.

It is so cute! What a find! I’m guessing from the 30’s/40’s as well. Looks like a piece that was in my grandparents house.

    Sarah,
She’s adorable! I love the curves and bric brac on the glass door!!! Great place for it too!
I always look forward to post Xmas every year…after I remove all the Xmas stuff I just live with the emptiness for 2-3 weeks and suddenly (when I can’t stand it any more) I get it in gear and take stuff down and start over redecorating my house. New year, new look, new feelings to begin again! I’m adding more green things this year…I love it with my accents of red…and while blues are the big comeback I just don’t feel the energy from blue that I do from red. So white black red and some green lift my spirits on the rainy or hot days…enjoy your room, and Those comfy chairs!

Great find! I was looking through your posts to see if I could find the name of the paint color on the walls in this room but couldn’t seem to find it. Would you please share the paint colors you’ve used in your home?

Hi Sarah. I am a antique dealer and I believe your new cabinet is actually a radio cabinet from the 1930’s. It has had the radio removed, and the shelves added to repurpose it, which is common. I sent you an email with pictures similar to yours. I love your blog and candles!
