Inspiration for The New House

Well it’s hard to believe this is really happening, but we’re about a month out from closing on our new house. Eeeeeek! The kids are already planning what animals they want to have on the farm. So far they’re wishing for chickens, ducks, goats, dogs, cats, and possibly a baby pig. Haha! I’m not sure we’ll be able to get all of those right away, but it’s so fun to listen to them talk about they’re plans for the farm! This is going to be a big change for us and everyone is so excited. I’ve been dreaming about what I want to do to the house and pinning inspiration photos like crazy. So today I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorites!

NEW HOUSE PLANS

If you missed the news about our new house you can read this post to get caught up! Basically we are buying a new home on almost 11 acres, which has been our dream for years now. I’ve wanted a farm for as long as I can remember! And the coolest part is the house is brand new. We definitely weren’t looking for a new build home, but it just worked out that way and I’m so excited to get in there and start putting my touches on everything!

The main level of the home is super bright and open–there are tons of windows and awesome views of rolling hills. This home is a little smaller than our main level now, so we are planning to start construction on the basement right away. It’s unfinished right now, but it’s HUGE, and it’s basically like a second house down there. It’s going to be so fun to design that space from scratch–we’ll have a living room down there, play room, my office, as well as an extra bathroom and bedroom. Anyway, enough rambling! Here are a few photos I’ve been inspired by lately!

NEW HOUSE KITCHEN

Goodness gracious! I don’t even know where to start with this photo. I absolutely love the rattan pendants, the white fridge, the glass box cabinets, and of course those beams. Our new house has a kitchen that is open like this—there’s an island with three pendants and white cabinets. I’m already planning how to add similar touches! And beams–I’m dreaming about beams.

HALLWAY

We have a long hallway in our new house with lots of doors like this one and I love the idea of adding a barn door slider to one of the doors.  The door that leads down to our basement would be perfect for this kind of thing. And how gorgeous are those lights?! Simple, but stunning. There’s just so much inspiration right here.

NEW HOUSE LIVING ROOM

Our new living room has vaulted ceilings just like this! It also has a fireplace and mantel that is very similar to this one, which I’m planning to do doing built-ins and open shelving around. And again, those beams are stunning!!

PANTRY

We’ll have a little pantry just like this one and I love the idea of putting a barn door slider over it! I guess I’m just a sucker for barn doors–I want to put them everywhere!

MASTER BEDROOM

Oh I LOVE this room so much. Our master bedroom in the next home will have a vaulted ceiling similar to this one and I love the idea of doing lots of beams and a planked ceiling. How gorgeous is that?! It adds so much character and charm to this space!

OUTDOORS

How stinkin’ adorable is this chicken coop?! I love it so much. I’m hoping we can get chickens right away. And you better believe I’m already making plans for our chicken coop. Can’t wait!

OK I’ll stop here because I could literally go on all day sharing inspiration photos! I’m so excited to take you guys on this new journey. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being here!! xoxo

So thrilled for you and your family! I grew up in a wooded area with just a handful of neighbors. As kids we built forts – birdwatched – built tree houses – great memories ! I hope you and your family will have the same wonderful experience living out on a farm. It’ll be fun to see how you decorate it💕

Thank you for sharing your plans. I can hear the excitement in your words! Joanne Gaines did a cool idea with her chicken coop near her garden. Chickens can wander around the garden and eat grubs etc. They have a closed in walkway that allows them to do this. Natures way to protect your veggies.
