Holy smokes you guys. This week has been the WEIRDEST. Seriously. Well I guess I shouldn’t say the whole week, but the past two days at least. It’s just been chaotic around here. It started on Wednesday when our brand new appliances got delivered. Yay for brand new appliances! But it ended up being a fiasco. The new refrigerator we got didn’t work from the second it was plugged in. Literally. It just didn’t work. The delivery guys left it and basically said, “good luck figuring it out. See ya!” Not cool, right? Long story short we discovered that something was wrong with the compressor thingamajig and the whole entire fridge needed to be replaced. Now just imagine if you will how a very large pregnant lady reacts to finding out her brand new fridge needs to be replaced. AND to make it even more fun we had no place to put the food from our old refridgerator, which the delivery guys were so kind to haul away. It was a disaster. We ran out to buy ice and packed up as much food as possible in the ridiculously small coolers we have (remind me to buy large coolers!) and still ended up losing most of what we had in the fridge. It was a disaster. Thankfully we got a replacement fridge Thursday morning and all is well. But dang. That wasn’t so fun. And is anyone else noticing a trend with our kitchen remodel? Seriously now, why in the world does everything have to be so difficult with this makeover? For heaven’s sake, can’t anything just go right the first time! Gah. I’m sorry guys, I’ll stop complaining. Things could always be much worse. Besides, all’s well that ends well, right? Something like that. Anyway, let’s get to Friday Favorites and a few things I’ve been loving this week!
After a bit of a hiatus from working on our kitchen remodel, we’re finally ramping things up again and getting some much needed work done. And that means I’ve had kitchen decor on the brain! I picked up these insanely cute farmhouse style napkins from World Market recently and I LOVE them. And bonus points, they’re super affordable. I think each one was only a few bucks.
I also grabbed these adorable ceramic canisters while I was there too. How cute are these?! I got the tea and coffee canisters, but they also have one that says sugar. I’m planning to do open shelves in our kitchen and I think these will be perfect!
Here’s a few other farmhouse kitchen goodies I’m loving:

I’ve also been drooling over a few of my favorite farmhouse style kitchens this week. I’m trying to make a decision on our countertops and I just can’t commit to anything yet. I told you guys I’m indecisive, right? I snapped this photo in Magnolia Market during our recent trip and I continually come back to it for inspiration. I adore the open shelving and I’m on the hunt for brackets exactly like those.
I’m also completely smitten with this kitchen from Farmhouse 5540. I have a thing for wood countertops and this is just perfect. I love those wood tones and headboard! I’m leaning in this direction right now because we could possibly DIY the countertops if we went this route, which would save us a ton of money.
Unfortunately I don’t have a pantry, but if I did I would definitely put a vintage door on that baby. I mean, how stunning is this? I found it on Pinterest and it literally took my breath away when I first saw it. Such a simple and easy idea, but what a big impact this has on the kitchen. Instant charm and character!
All righty guys, that is my Friday Favorites today. All about that farmhouse kitchen inspiration! I am actually sharing a kitchen progress update next week, so stay tuned for that. I have great news to share about our wall of doom project!
Have a fabulous weekend my friends! xoxo
I’m lovin’ all the farmhouse style too! Thanks for sharing Sarah. Have a blessed day!
Thanks for dropping by Teresa! Have a great weekend 🙂
Hi Sarah!!
Loved seeing your post today! Curious as if you could tell me if those are grain sacks you have framed in the background of your pictures? LOVE them, and must find them if that’s what those are!! 🙂
Thanks so much for your inspiring posts!! <3
Yep, those are grain sacks Vicki! I actually wrote a whole post about them, you can see it here: https://sarahjoyblog.com/vintage-grain-sacks-old-window/
Thanks, Sarah!! Don’t you just love those “A-HA” moments when you actually find a use for that random piece you just couldn’t bare to part with? ???? LOVE when that happens!!
Thanks again!!
I found some brackets just like that on Etsy.com. Just search metal shelf brackets and they will come up.
Of course, Etsy! I’m on it now, thanks Karen!
Love all those decor pieces you picked out and the kitchen inspiration photos!! 🙂
Dear Sarah,
First of all, I just started reading your blogs very recently. Love them!!
I had never heard of American Farmhouse magazine, bought one to find your reading area…. very lovely and now will be subscribing to the magazine!!!! It’s great!!
I also love the open shelves for s kitchen, but I know I would hate to constantly clean them!!!! The look is so fabulous!!
Enjoy your weekend…… I will spend it cleaning and decorating…..the second thing being my obvious favorite!!
Sue
Aw Sue, you’re so kind! I’m so happy to hear you found the magazine and even subscribed! I love it and it’s full of great ideas. Thanks so much for stopping by. Enjoy your weekend and have fun with your decorating! 🙂

Hope it helps. LOVE the World Market finds!
Ah perfect, thank you Julie!!
Great post ….. I do love the Farmhouse 5540 kitchen , but the Magnolia Market one is a little more “current” ….. leading me to the conclusion to do a blend of both, whatever you do will be perfect.
I agree Marilyn. And I’m kinda digging those concrete countertops in the Magnolia kitchen too!
Magnolia sells the brackets. I bought a pair when I was there a couple months ago. $14.00/pair. Looks like they’ll hold an 8″ wide board.
Thanks for the heads up Chris!
I can’t wait to see your kitchen remodel. We are in the process of doing a kitchen remodel also, but have had a several month setback (ie put on pause for 6 months), which is perfect cuz I can let you finish your project and then do my normal thing….copy you! 🙂
Love your style!
ha! Well I think that’s a great plan Denise! 🙂 And I know how those delays go. Our progress has been super slow thanks to life being crazy almost every weekend. But thankfully we are getting back into it now and I can’t wait to finish it up. Soooooon!
Julie,
I love your things….oh my!!! This is my most favorite email.
Sorry Sarah,
Where did Julie come from???? LOL!!! I am so sorry!!! Just overlook me….I turned 50 yesterday. LOL!!!
haha you made me giggle! I can be Julie too, no worries! 🙂 Thanks for dropping by Andrea, so glad you enjoy my blog!
Hi! I just found your blog through Pinterest. Love it! Can you tell me what the countertops are in the kitchen
from Magnolia Market with the Black cabinets? Thanks so much!
Hi Lori! I believe those were concrete countertops!
I was wondering where you got your sink? I’ve been looking for one like it and can’t seem to find one.
I am looking for this sink as well! Please let me know where can I get it!
Thank.you !
Were can I find the container sitting on the sink ln the picture?
Love farmhouse decor! So simple and stylish! Thank you Sarah for the inspiration!
I absolutely love that door also but can’t find anywhere to buy anything like it. Do you know? Building a house and this would be perfect! Thanks.
Hi Sarah! Nice to meet you too. I’m looking in vain for the vertical wooden plate holders you see in Country home kitchens or updated kitchens. NO ONE seems know what I’m talking about!!!! I want one to put in my dr. Nothing $$$$. Even thinking of checking out antique shops. Etsy has a man who makes but too $$$. Do you know what I mean or know the name of what it’s called. I love your blog which I was referred to @ Gorgeous Country Homes on Google. And I must say I may have found my counterpart —– I love and have done some of the updates of this page. I also do have a house that was built in 1941, [belonging to my Irish hubby who had 15 sibs] so there was a LOT of DIY for me to do. Mikey could care less tho he did help when I needed a tall person or painting. I kept a scrapbook of before/after. His 8 sisters cannot believe the things I’ve done.
I do have a coal room door w glass panes in it like that pantry on your displayed home. I don’t have one either but I call the back of my cellar door and the wall to the L. going down to the basement as my pantry. Mikey did put 3 Closet Maid 5 foot racks up for me. Any way I am a talkaholic, shopaholic and I’m retired. My quest to add something new to my home never fades. I will be 72 on March 13th so ya just never give up! Oh & I drive a 2016 cobalt blue Mustang convertible…….so I’m still kicking. My two kids have 4 legs and fuzzy faces. I’m just starting to learn IG. So if you get a chance, just pass along any info on the plate shelf. Thanks & have a nice day!
