Farmhouse Style Master Bathroom Refresh

You know you’re getting old when buying new towels is exciting. Really, it’s true. When the thought of fresh new towels makes you giddy with excitement, you know you’ve officially arrived at the peak of adulthood. That’s at least how I felt this past weekend when I finally got new towels and new bathmats for our master bathroom. It was waaaaay past time for some freshening up, so it felt like a mini Christmas. And since things are looking much better now, I figured it would be a great time to share our bathroom with you guys. Believe it or not, I haven’t posted about our master bathroom for over a year–which is absolutely crazy because it’s a space we put a ton of work into and I LOVE it. If you’ve been around a while you might remember that our bathroom was in full blown 1980’s glory when we moved in back in 2015. We completely renovated the entire space and it’s still one of my favorite projects ever!

I have to say, I think these are the dreamiest towels in all the land. Really, have you ever seen a prettier bath towel? I picked up several of these and a few of the smaller matching hand towels and I LOOOOOVE them so much. And I actually feel kinda bad using them because they’re just so darn pretty.

If you’ve been around a while you might remember that we made that towel rack above the tub last year and I shared a whole post about it here.  That was such a fun project and I still love it.

This cute bath basket is from World Market and I love having it here by the tub with a few extra hand towels (as well as my kiddos’ bath toys of course). And isn’t that little stool adorable? I picked that little guy up at a yard sale last summer and painted it white (of course). It’s the perfect size for the bathroom!

Our dressers turned vanities are still holding up pretty well. Although if I’m being really honest, I’m kind of disappointed with how my vanity (which is the larger one) is doing. I repainted them last year, but my vanity is starting to look rough again. It’s kind of annoying to think about needing to repaint them every year, so right now I’m considering taking them out and doing something new. CRAZY, I know. But it would be nice to have a normal vanity that doesn’t need re-painted regularly. We’ll see what happens and I’ll definitely share what we decide to do if anything changes.

Thanks a ton for dropping in today and checking out our master bathroom! Here’s a few other bathroom posts you might want to drop by:

  2. Your bathroom looks great! Last year you shared where you had purchased the lighting above your vanity. I showed it to my husband and we immediately purchased two of the black ones; one for the upstairs bathroom and one for our main floor and farmhouse style bathroom. We love them and have received many positive comments about them. Thanks for your posts!

Why don’t you try adding some type of counter top to the top of the dresser/vanities with a nice overhang to keep water off of the front of the dresser/vanities. It might help them stay nicer longer and the overhang will keep you from rubbing across the front of the dresser as uch.

We are looking into that Cristin! I’d love to do something like that so we dont have to replace the entire thing.

Your bathroom is beautiful and I love your new towels. I, too, have a thing about new towels, and love you find beautiful new ones. I have a painted cabinet in my bathroom, and I’ve found it needs to be repainted every few years, as a result of moisture and constant use. Maybe a thin piece of glass on top of the dressers would help keep them from becoming damaged.

They are sealed with a clear poly. It has done MUCH better than the wax I used before, but my vanity is starting to look bad again. 🙁

Beautiful bathroom!! I love everything in it!! You could have a piece of glass cut to fit the shape of the top and it would be water proof and still show the dresser top. That might be a solution for you to keep the vanity because it is adorable in there.

I bought that. It’s from Home Goods and it had two outer borders, one of which was gold so I painted that part white.

Sarah, This is a beautiful Farmhouse bathroom!!!!!! I love the vanities; it looks like a bedroom dresser I grew up with. French Provencial style. I’m new to your blog but I sure do enjoy my emails everyday to see what you have been doing in your home. I too love the light fixture above the vanities and the faucet goes so well together. The hardware too!!!!! Really , really great job and so put together. We took our storage room which was part of the garage and made a master bath; I’m still trying to put it all together. I’ll have to use your ideas for our bathroom. Thanks again for sharing.

  • Mom finished her first 10k 🙌🏻🙌🏻 It was such a fun day & I’m honestly so glad I decided to challenge myself & do this. Sure, it was only 6.2 miles, but this race (and all of my running leading up to it) was one of the first things I’ve done for myself in a loooooong time. My health has totally been on the back burner since having my third baby. But three months ago I started running to help with my anxiety & worry-about-all-the-things syndrome. I fell in love & it’s been SO good for me. Running is one of my favorite things to do now 👏🏻👏🏻 I want to encourage all of my fellow mama’s out there to make time for yourself. Do something for YOU. Take the class. Book the ticket. Go for the run. You are worth it! ❤️❤️
  • Cheers to the weekend, coffee in bed + sunshine in the forecast 🙌🏻☀️ Our snow is melting, which is GOOD news because my first 10K is tomorrow. Eeeek! Fingers crossed I can make it through with my old lady hip🏃‍♀️💨Happy weekend buddies! ❤️ http://liketk.it/2FL0i #liketkit @liketoknow.it #ltkhome
  • Breaking News: It snowed in Colorado today ❄️❄️ Normally I’d be less than thrilled about this kind of thing, but I figure why not have a little fun. Sometimes you just gotta accept what you can’t change & make the best of it, right?! Besides, doing a live weather report in the freezing snow is pretty fun. (watch my stories if you missed it!) Happy almost-weekend buddies! ❤️
