Farmhouse Style Home Office

I have to admit, I’ve been a total slacker when it comes to using my home office space this summer. Most of the time I either work on the couch, at the kitchen table, or at my little vanity desk. Now that school is back in session, I want to start using my farmhouse style office again. It’s small space, but it’s one of my favorite areas in our home. And there’s just something about sitting at an actual desk that makes you feel more put together, right? If you work from home you know the struggle is reeeeeeeeal. Anyway, I switched a few things around to give the office a new look and feel for fall. So I thought it would be fun to share it with you lovely folks today!

Isn’t it a cozy little farmhouse style office? I’ve always loved this corner in our basement, especially after we added that shiplap and trim. I had the desk on the other wall for a while, but I moved it over to this side to mix it up and try something new. Now, I love having it under that giant chalkboard!

I also hung up that pair of wall baskets on the right side of the chalkboard to give this area a little more texture. Those are great for extra storage too, but for now I just styled them with a few old books and those faux flowers. PS: those baskets are no longer available, but I found some that are very similar.

I decided to leave my antique Royal typewriter on the desk because it just feels like it belongs in this spot. It’s also kinda cool to see my laptop sitting next to that typewriter–talk about old vs new! Plus it’s still one of my favorite vintage finds ever. And to be honest I kinda want to find another one. I just LOVE old typewriters.

I’ve been feeling so motivated lately to be more productive and efficient with my time, so I’m really excited to get back into using this little office more regularly. It’s a simple corner but I feel like it’s the perfect spot to sit down with a cup of coffee and get things done, ya know? Anyway, thanks so much for dropping by today. I hope this post gives you an idea or two for your own home! xoxo

Beautiful office! I am wondering, what is the floor covering you have down? I am working on putting together an office/craft space in our basement too and we have concrete floors so I am looking for something to warm it up a little but still be neutral, and then I can maybe layer area rugs on top. Thanks!

I LOVE, I want to talk my husband into getting rid of his BIG desk and getting something like this and style it up better than it currently is. Thanks for the inspiration.

Great place to be inspired. I have my portable typewriter that I bought in 1959 what I wish I had room to set out. I did get new ribbon 6 years ago for our granddaughters wedding and set it out for people to write messages. Then for our grandsons graduation. The young people had A lot of fun using it.

I love the look of the whole set up! I have been looking for just the right typewriter for my own desk, which I’ve opted to put behind one of the sofas in my living room. I’m actually looking for just the right vintage desk too.
I absolutely love love love your suitcase! Where on earth did you find that? I have 3 that I planned on painting up real pretty…until…I brought them down from the attic and piled them where I planned on putting them. The family said NO don’t paint them they look awesome just the way they are…and they were right so I left them and love them! I get tons of compliments. I’ve always admired your style of decor and you always do such a great job of placement.
I know it’s hard getting accustomed to a new work area but once you do I think you will love it. Just wondering also where you got the basket of flowers on the suitcase? Loving them very much!

I forget what it looked like before….but this is so good! I’d be tempted to use the chalkboard, maybe just a word to inspire or ponder. The word on my board currently is “ higaerth”…😉

Oops! My word is actually “hiraeth”, a Welsh word which loosely means a longing for a place you can no longer return to. Sorry for the misspelling!🤦‍♀️

    Love your space!
It’s an inviting area to rest and gather your thoughts!! I share an office with my hubster so not easy meshing two completely different mindsets…he’s like sprawl all over empty counters while working on blueprints, and I’m like cozy corner with my sewing machine. He’s golden oldies music 🎶 while I’m more classical movie theme music…so I now consider my office the front porch when he’s working.
Which I love my porch, but not a conducive place with heat, dust and smells from horses and tractors, and while quiet, it’s still a project in the making at this point. So I do love seeing other people spaces for inspiration and ideas about what possibilities are out there. Maybe I need to consider taking over my little 8×8 bunk room as my space and War Room for prayer time 🙏🏻 Have to think that thru…
    Enjoy! It’s beautiful! Take care!

Hi Sarah, The office is adorable! The vintage typewriter is perfect there on your desk. I just scored an antique typewriter myself…it is a Remington and man is that thing heavy! I love it! Enjoy your new work station!

    Hi Sarah

I just came across your blog and I wanted to tell you how much I am enjoying it for several reasons.
I love that you are a follower of God, I loooovee your style, I just moved into a four level back split, and I want to decorate it modern farmhouse style.

This is my first home with my fiance as I just got engaged on boxing day and I am 51 years old, sooo I am praying that 2020 will be the year for us, I won’t get into it but I have been through allot and finally GOD is paying back double for my troubles with this blessing.

Keep up the good work and feel free to reach out, I would enjoy that.

    Susanne

I absolutely love your farmhouse-style home office, it’s so cozy and inviting! The cabinets look stunning and I’m impressed by how much of a difference refinishing them made. I recently had my own cabinets refinished and it completely transformed my kitchen. It’s amazing how a simple update can make such a big impact on the overall look and feel of a room. Your attention to detail and thoughtful design choices really shine through in this space. It’s inspiring to see how you’ve created a functional and stylish home office that feels like a retreat. Thank you for sharing your beautiful space with us!
