I have a very serious question for you. Are you ready? Ok, here goes. If you had to choose your absolute favorite room in your home to decorate what would it be? Your dining room? Kitchen? Maybe your bedroom. It’s a tough choice, but for me I’d have to go with our front room. I know that might not sound very exciting, but I really do love it. It’s the first room you see when you walk into our home and it’s such a bright, happy space with tall ceilings and a cozy little window seat. And since the kids pretty much leave this room alone, everything stays exactly where I put it. All good things. Although, as much as I love this room, we hardly ever use it. I’m basically the only one that spends any time in there, which is kind of sad because it’s such a great space. Do you have rooms like that in your home? Like a sitting room or a front room? It’s a shame how little they get used. But it kinda works out in my favor because it’s basically become a bonus room that I get to decorate and style however I want. Yippeeeee! Well I recently got it all spruced up for fall and today I’m excited to share it with you guys. Grab your coffee and let’s get to it!
How cool is this giant wooden toolbox?! It actually belonged to my Gramps and I was lucky enough to get it after he passed a few years ago. If you’ve been around for a while you’ve probably seen it a time or two. This is definitely one of my favorite vintage items and I always love decorating it for fall. You can see how I used it in our dining room last fall in this post.
Styling this toolbox was a piece of cake. I just took a long fall garland and cut it in half. Then I put the two pieces on the outer edge with a few white pumpkins down the middle. Easy peasy fall centerpiece!
Does anyone else have an obsession with window seats?! I sure do. I regularly find myself drooling over them on Pinterest. They’re just so darn dreamy. This window seat is one of my favorite things in our home. I don’t use in nearly as often as I should, but it sure is a cozy spot.
I shared this old vintage cubby all spruced up for fall in a post a few weeks ago, so you can check that out here if you missed it. And you might be surprised to know I haven’t changed anything in this corner in the past two weeks, which is really saying a lot for a chronic mover-of-things like myself. It’s pretty remarkable, really. I don’t even know who I am anymore.
I’m really liking the easy breezy feel this room has right now. It’s such a happy, cozy space and I love all the neutral fall decor. And I’m making a promise to myself that I’ll actually start using this room more often. Maybe I should make this my new early morning coffee spot? Or even better maybe I should just convert this into my office?! Wait, that’s a brilliant idea! I could put a little vintage desk over in the corner where that old door is, move a few things around and BOOM. Home office/front room loveliness. I think I can make it happen. I’ll just add it to my ever-growing list of projects. My husband will be thrilled!
Thanks so much for dropping by the blog today. You guys always brighten my day and I hope my little blog can do the same for you. xoxo

What a lovely room, I would sit at the window seat and read a book or just enjoy the sunshine. We here in New England call your front room a formal living room. Well whatever you call it, it is just beautiful, hope you will enjoy it more.
Thank you Beth, I’m hoping to enjoy it more with winter coming soon!

It’s beautiful! You would find me in there hiding from the world. I have a chair like those two. It is old and the cushions are broken down. I’m going to have it re-done so someone can sit in it besides the dog!
Thanks Cathleen, I definitely need to enjoy this room more often. And good luck with re-doing your chair!
I love your living room. We just sold our home in California after 37yrs. and have moved to New Mexico. We will be moving into our new home this weekend. I am new to this type of living but I absolutely love it. But I have to ask, do you ever tire of not having color? just curious. thank you

Dont really understand all these white rooms we are seeing. Color Is a good thing! How does anyone with kids and pets and husbands live in white rooms?????
Oh my , this is just soooo beautiful , I love love love it … I wish I could get some pumpkins like that over here in Australia, also we are mid spring , so they don’t do fall decor yet but because im Irish ,i’ll still do it lol!!
Great job Sarah!!!
I remember before I had kids and a spouse, walking into homes with the front living rooms and thinking how ridiculous those rooms are that no one uses. Now that I have been married and have three kiddos, I’d give ANYTHING to have one of those rooms! You mean a room that stays clean and is cutely decorated!!!! I totally get those rooms now and wish I had one. LOL! Enjoy it!! (Though totally love the desk idea!)
I know I’m commenting a little late but I have to say I was one who use to of had to have color on my walls also. But no more!!! I love your neutral walls & I recently painted the entire inside of my house neutral too. I guess we morph into our original selves.. Eventually!! Lol. Bless you!! Love your home & style.
Dina
I totally agree Dina, we just adapt and grow in our style over time! Eventually creating the home that truly suits us. Thanks for stopping by–hope you have a great weekend!

I just love this room, so bright and open! I am in the process of redoing a room and looking for chairs just like the ones in your room. Could you give me some suggestions on where to purchase? Thanks and again, love it!
