Do you have those areas in your home that get zero attention? I mean it’s almost like you forgot it even existed. That’s basically been the case with the window seat in our front room. I’ve completely ignored this spot from the first day we moved in. It’s kind of strange really, because it’s such a cute little seat, but I never did anything with it. It’s always been hidden behind the accent chairs in our front room. Well a few weeks ago we had a yard sale and got rid of those chairs, which means this room has been much more open and airy. And with all that open space, I finally had a clear view of the ignored window seat. I was looking at it the other day, with the sun streaming in the windows and it was basically glowing. That’s when I realized what a fool I’ve been to ignore this charming little spot for so long. So I grabbed a few pillows, my favorite cushion, and some fresh sunflowers to cozy it up a bit. I seriously love it and I’m honestly considering not even putting accent chairs back in this room like I had planned. I don’t want to cover up this window seat!
This spot is just so darn cozy. I could literally sit here all day long, just hanging out in the sunshine. That is if I didn’t have little people to take care of and a zillion other things to do. But even just a few minutes here and there is still good, right?
The key to making anything cozy is pillows. Lots and lots of pillows. That’s my motto anyway. These cute grain sack pillows are from With Lavender and Grace and the lemon botanical pillow is from Linen and Ivory. That long cushion is from Pier 1. And that striped throw blanket is from Target.
I had the hardest time finding a curtain rod for this giant window. I actually found this one on Craigslist and then painted it white. That sucker is solid wood and huge! I also DIY-ed the curtains, those are just easy peasy drop cloth curtains, which you can read all about in my review here.
I love sharing new and unseen spots in our home like this with you guys and I hope you enjoy it too. And maybe this inspires you to look for areas in your own home that have been hidden or not given much attention. I really can’t believe how long I have ignored this charming little window seat, but I’ve promised myself that I’m going to start using it more. I’d love to make it a focal point in this room from now on. And like I said earlier, I’m even reconsidering if I still want new accent chairs like I had planned. Now I’m thinking something smaller like a settee might be a better idea. What do you guys think? If I go that route then I’m not covering up my cozy window seat and maybe I’ll actually use it!
Thanks for dropping by the blog today, I’d love to hear what you think of the window seat. And be sure to let me know if you have any questions. I always love chit-chatting!

Hi Sarah! If you said where the seat pillow came from, I missed it! Can you let us know? Thanks! Clara
Hi Clara. That cushion is from Pier 1 actually, I LOVE it. I’ve had it a few years now and it’s great quality! You can find it here: https://rstyle.me/n/cpe57ab6hgf
Thanks!
I have a window just like that in my front room, but we use it as a pool table room! Love your idea! Can u give me some suggestions for pillows u would use for my type of room! I want to change the style to industrial pool table room.
How fun Lauren! My first thought was gingham pillows. I love these gray ones from Target: https://rstyle.me/n/cpe555b6hgf
I remember the week you sold your chairs, I showed my husband a picture of that spot and asked if we could incorporate that into our addition! It looks beautiful.
Ha! I love that Corinne. So glad you like it and I hope you can make one in your new addition.
I just love window seats!! Wish I had one in our house. Love what you did with it.
I simply MUST ask about the light fixture in the 6th picture. Can you tell me where you found it?!?!?!?
I’ve been looking for one and that is about the cutest I’ve seen. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I LOVE, love, LOVE your blog! I am new to following you, and you’re the first one I read each day.
Thanks for sharing!!
Aw thanks Judy, I’m so glad you’re enjoying my blog. And thrilled to have you here! That light fixture was from a local seller, but it looks like she’s no longer selling it. But I was able to find it on Etsy, you can see it here: https://rstyle.me/n/cpe5zub6hgf Isn’t it a beauty!?
Thanks so much for the information! Take care.
Love the window seat.
Thanks Diane!
Such a charming and inviting space, I think it looks great the way it is and as long as you don’t need the extra seating I would definitely leave it just like this.
Thanks Brenda, I’m thinking a settee is probably what I’ll do but still not sure!
I think the settee is a great idea! I would never want to hide that window seat, either!
I’m thinking that’s exactly what I’ll do Julie!
I second what Julie Briones said above. The window seat is such a pretty focal point of the room and shouldn’t be hidden by accent chairs. 🙂
I completely agree Gayle!
I love that window seat AND the cushion, it’s so different.. Looks great in there!
I want a house just like yours!
As usual, great job! Can’t believe you overlooked this gem. I love it as is too.
Aw thank you so much Lisa, I’m glad I re-discovered it!
I have been in love with your picture for months! Can you please tell me what size you got the pillows with patches?
