Ok someone needs to come over here and take this black paint away from me. I’m out of control at this point. It started with painting the little drop zone area black, then yesterday one thing led to another and I ended up painting the shiplap in the dining room/sitting room area! And holy smokes, I LOVE how it looks. It completely changed the feel of this space!
I cannot get over how much I love this black paint (the color is black by Behr). It gives this space contrast, depth, an it just feels cozier in here. I did have to move the furniture around once I had this painted because my green swivel chairs and that large cabinet just weren’t jiving with the black paint. I wanted to bring in some softer wood tones and leather, which is just the prettiest combo. These chairs are show stoppers in here!
I love how this wall ties in with the black in the fireplace over in the living room!
It’s funny how much this room has changed since we moved in two years ago. It’s honestly the space that bugs me the most in our home because it just never has felt “right”. This is adjacent to our front door, living room, and kitchen/breakfast nook area and the first space you see when you walk in our home. I have tried it as a dining room and a sitting room/den and I feel like it makes the most sense like this–a cozy seating spot. And I think the black paint helps define this area as it’s own space. Can’t wait to decorate this room for fall soon!

I have a LOT of black inside/outside and it is fun to decorate with & black is a secure, cozy feeling (my personal opinion).
