Affordable Farmhouse Style Sofas

Hey guys! So this past weekend I spent a good amount of time in our basement, doing some much needed decluttering and cleaning. That poor basement doesn’t get the attention it deserves and I’m ashamed to say it’s often the drop-zone for all our junk and random stuff that doesn’t get used often. It’s a walkout basement, so there’s a ton of natural light, a huge living area, a bar, and of course the kids play area. It’s really awesome but I rarely share it here on the blog because it’s just a hodgepodge of random furniture and it usually looks like a hot mess. We’ve got a giant brown couch down there that we’ve owned for years, an old leather recliner, etc, etc. It’s just RANDOM-central. Well this past weekend I was rearranging a few things and I decided that it’s finally time to invest some money into the basement. I’d love to get a new sofa and a new loveseat for that space and finally sell our old furniture that’s been around forever. Well as usual I’m definitely on a tight budget, so I’m on the hunt for affordable farmhouse style sofas that won’t break the bank. But are still beautiful and cozy! I’ve found 10 really great options and I want to share them with you guys today. Hopefully this helps if you’re also in the market for a new sofa or loveseat!

I think ANY of these options would work really well down there, but I especially love the Chesterfield Sofa, which is currently on a huge sale. And I really like the Serta Caroll Sofa because it actually matches the two little armchairs in our front room. Those chairs are super cozy and they’ve held up really well, so I have a feeling that sofa would be the same way. I also absolutely love the Amalle Sofa, isn’t it SO dreamy?! It’s a bit more pricey than the others, so I almost didn’t include it in this roundup, but dang–it sure is a beauty.

Let me know which one is your favorite, I’d love to hear it! And I hope this helps if you’re also looking for a new sofa or loveseat. Thanks so much for dropping by the blog and spending part of your day with me! xoxo

Hello Sarah~ Boy you did some homework here! I am feeling #4 or #10 as my favorites. I am kind of like you with the creams or grays. Good choices girl! Beautiful fall weather here, have a great day out there enjoying all your pumpkin decor and of course, your 3 special, sweet little ones!

Thanks Rhonda, I love those picks as well! I’d love to do the white couches but our kiddos spend a lot of time playing down there, so that might be a risky choice!

Hi Sarah! These are some beautiful sofas! Don’t rule out the IKEA Ektorp line. I have the sectional, sofa, chairs and ottoman and I love them! Super comfy and easy to clean.

This is what I was going to say. We just got the Ektorp sofa and chair (and ottoman actually). They are perfect! Very farmhouse, very affordable, absolutely gorgeous, and great customer service.

I really need to look into those! I know lots of people that love them, I just haven’t found that IKEA has the best quality so I’ve always been a bit nervous. But good to know you love them Cindy!

I’ve actually had the Ektorp line since 2008. Still have it and it has survived two dogs and a bit of clawing from a kitten and still looks good and is comfy. The back cushions are detached but I’ve never had an issue with them coming off.

How is the quality on those Kelly? I’ve always been nervous with the quality of IKEA items, a few things I bought weren’t that great!

One recommendation…do not get a sofa with detached back cushions. They always end up on the floor, or you’re constantly having to arrange them. I love all of your choices; but I think #10 is my favorite.

That is true Sandy, detached cushions can become a hassle if they come off easily. We have one oversized chair with a detached cushion, but it stays in place really well. Thanks goodness!

    Hi,

I love all your picks on the sofas, but I love 2, 6 and 9. The white is amazing which I would love, but considering my living room is everything, I dont have a basement or a family room, white wouldn’t work. My friend has #6 in a light denim material that is just wonderful.

I love those too Tammy! I think I’d actually be happy with any of these down there. It’s such a great space, I really need to invest more down there. Anyway, thanks so much for dropping by today. I hope you’re having the best Tuesday! xoxo

I love 3,4 and 6. I have brown tone couch and 2 recliners(the furniture is less than 2 years old) due to having dogs and no family room. I’ve been transitioning to farmhouse style…although it looks nice I’d like some ideas on how I can lighten things up with so much brown.

I love my Pottery Barn sofa – we got it for a steal at the Pottery Barn outlet store. All of my upholstered furniture has off white slip covers -we even had a slip cover made from a drop cloth for my husband’s recliner . I’m a pro at taking the slip covers off and throwing them in the wash . Whether it’s just a cushion cover or the entire thing it washes beautifully . Lots of people say ” oh no why would you ever have off white furniture with a dog or kids in the house ” my response is -” that’s the beauty of it I can always tell if it’s dirty and can easily remedy it.” When my sister in law visits with her 2 dogs or friends bring over their 3 boys (all under 5) I just put an off white quilt on the sofa and let them have the run of the place . I’ve read lots of blogs where moms go with white so they can bleach the slip cover.

I totally agree Marilyn! I think the slipcovers are SO smart and I’d love to have a couch with those in our basement. I know a lot of moms that swear by slipcovers! I need to look into that option for our basement, especially since the kids play down there so much.

I like them all, not a real big fan of owning the button tucking, but I like to look at it. I have #3. I have had it for close to 5 years and it has been the best sofa ! ! ! It has been thru 3 dogs and still holds up nicely. Even my huge dog stands on it and there isn’t one rip or snag on it. The cushions on the back are attached, they just look loose. I think I it has a timeless quality. The linen color is nice too. Oh come to think of it, you have chairs that match my sofa. . . duh 🙂

Cant wait to see your transformation ! ! !
