OMG. OMG. OMG. You guys, I leave for the Silobration in Waco in FIVE DAYS. Well actually, it’s only four days if you don’t count today, but holy cow it’s getting so close. I’m a big ol’ ball of nerves and excitement at this point and I even had a dream about the trip a few nights ago. I played it pretty cool in my dream, so hopefully that’s a good sign that I won’t act like a total weirdo the entire time! Anyway, I can’t wait to share it all with you guys soooooooon. But today I wanted to share a cozy little corner in our basement that I actually don’t think I’ve ever posted about before. In fact, I think I planned to share it, but then I completely forgot. Mom brain, anyone?! Anyway, it’s the space right next to my desk area and it’s kind of an eclectic mix of things I’ve had sitting in storage for a while.
You might remember this cozy settee–it used to be in our front room for quite a while. Well several months ago we did a little switcheroo in that room, so we moved it down to the basement. I wasn’t sure where to put it, but I think it works pretty well in this corner.
Remember this wooden crate side table I made earlier this year?! It was such a fun DIY project and I love that we were able to repurpose that old fan crate into a functional side table with all of its vintage charm intact.
I had fun with the wall decor in this space and decided to create a gallery wall-isa vibe above the settee. I used those framed hymnals that I made a while back and then a pair of wire baskets that have been sitting in storage for at least two years now. I love those baskets because they’re big enough to hold things like books and even faux greenery, so they add a lot of interest to the wall. (And if you’re curious, those are from Hobby Lobby.) And that large chalkboard was a lucky find at an antique store a few years ago.
It’s nice to have this cozy little seating space next to my desk. You know, just in case I need to curl up and take a nap while I’m working. Kidding! There’s definitely no time for napping around here. But either way, I still love this area and it’s always fun to share new spaces with you guys. I hope that my posts give you an idea or two for your own home. And remember, home decor doesn’t have to be perfect or follow any “rules”. In my opinion, styling your home is a very personal, artistic thing that should be FUN. Don’t get too caught up in the “right” way of doing things and just do what you love, ok?!
