25 Random Facts about Me

One of my favorite kinds of Instagram/blog posts to read is when people share random facts about themselves. That’s probably because I’m nosey as heck, but I really do like learning about other people–especially those that I enjoy following on social media. So I thought it would be fun to share 25 random facts about me! Hopefully this helps you get to know me a little better.

25 Random Facts About Me

  1. I grew up in a tiny town in southeastern Colorado. My senior class had less than 30 students and our entire school, K-12, was in the same building.
  2. I have a huge appetite and I’m pretty much always hungry or thinking about the next thing I’m going to eat.
  3. I’m super competitive and LOVE sports.
  4. I do not like sushi or any kind of fish.
  5. My husband and I had an exchange student from Iraq live with us for two weeks (long before we had kids). It was such a cool experience! We still keep in touch with her today.
  6. Reality tv shows are my favorite–I love Survivor and Big Brother.
  7. When I was a kid, I loved rearranging my room. And I would beg my mom to let me re-arrange our living room!
  8. I sleep with a night-guard every night–gotta protect these teeth.
  9. My husband and I are high school sweethearts.
  10. My mom is my best friend. I love hanging out with my parents.
  11. I had 39 college credits when I graduated high school. After high school, I completed my undergraduate degree in two years.
  12. I have a Masters degree in Public Administration/Nonprofit Management.
  13. My kids are my entire world. I start to cry just thinking about them growing up.
  14. I’m a completely different person than I was three years ago. I’ve grown SO much in my faith and how I look at life, especially in the last year and a half.
  15. My favorite meal is a really good cheeseburger with crunchy fries.
  16. I love craft beer.
  17. I have two older brothers.
  18. I write letters to my kids for their birthday every year and I plan to give those to them when they’re 18.
  19. I dream constantly about moving somewhere it’s warm year round. I would love to live near the beach one day!
  20. My faith is very important to me and growing in my relationship with Jesus is what’s been the most helpful for dealing with my anxiety.
  21. I started my blog in the fall of 2015 with a camera I bought off craigslist. The camera was $300 and I met the seller in a Target parking lot! Now all of my photos are taken with my iPhone.
  22. I never get my nails done at a salon.
  23. I love working in complete silence.
  24. I used to be a huge news junkie, but now I rarely watch it.
  25. I love listening to podcasts and I think it would be super fun to start my own one day.

Well there ya have it–25 completely random and mostly useless facts, but I hope you enjoyed learning more about me! xo

Sarah here! Nice to meet you. I’m a mama to three, wife to my high school sweetheart and accidental blogger. I love that you said your mom is your best friend. That’s one of my main goals in life, to have a close relationship with my children. I grew up without my mom, so sometimes it’s hard to know how to create that relationship. What makes your mom your best friend? What did she do/ what makes her so special to you?

That’s a great question, Sarah. I’d say we are so close because of all our conversations. We talk every day and she is always so great to support me in whatever I have going on–good or bad. She lifts me up when I’m down, encourages me when I’m frustrated, and celebrates with me when I’m excited. She always gives me advice about anything and everything–even if I don’t ask for it. haha!

Curious–What ages were you and your husband when you met in high school? Did you date in high school or after? Did you have bumps/break-ups before you married? My daughter doesn’t want to date during high school and wants to focus on her relationship with the Lord. However, she is best friends with a guy and they pray together, have gone to prom together and love serving together–definitely some “like” going on there–though they haven’t talked about it because they want to keep things in the friend zone while in high school (which we as parents appreciate)! Any tips? Things that your parents said/did that helped in your dating journey at a younger age? Thanks!

      Sarah said:

That’s a great question Brenda! I was 15 and he was 17 when we started dating. We dated about 5 years before we got married–I was the ripe old age of 20! Crazy, right? I’m almost 35 now and he’s still my favorite person to be around. But yes, we did have bumps in the road here and there when we were young and dating. But nothing serious. We both shared a love for the Lord and I think that helped a LOT. Also growing up together like that has made us so close. I love that your daughter wants to focus on her relationship with the Lord while she is in high school–kudos to her!

As for my parents, they were supportive, but I know they didn’t love the idea of us getting married so young. Looking back now I can totally understand that! I wouldn’t want my baby to get married at 20 either. Eek! But they knew he was a great guy and thankfully it all worked out for the best.

Thanks for responding! That’s awesome that you got married at 20. We have a huge family and a lot of our nieces and nephews get married young. They seem to find people at church or homeschool groups that are mature for their age. I think getting married can be a good thing–limits the time for temptations and getting into things that aren’t great! Love your story. Thanks!

If I may ask, what has helped you with your anxiety? As a Christian, I too believe He makes all things possible, but also struggle with anxiety as well and would love to know what has worked for you. How did your anxiety draw you closer to Him?

    Thank you so much!!
