So if you’ve been around these parts for a while now you probably know that I have a tiny little obsession with wooden trays. I literally use them EVERYWHERE in our home and they’ve shown up countless times here on the blog. You might even get tired of seeing them because I use them so darn much, but I just can’t help it. They’re one of the best home decor items a girl can own in my humble opinion. You can not only style them in countless ways, but they’re also pretty affordable. AND you can even make a wooden tray yourself (check out this post to see how I made one a few years ago!) Anyway, today I thought it would be fun to share 10 ways to style a wooden tray. You can literally use them anywhere in your home, so here’s a few ideas to get you started!
1. Breakfast Tray with Extra Plates & Fresh Flowers
2. Reading Tray
3. Simple Bedroom Coffee Tray
4. Fresh Greenery + Old Seed Packets
5. Tray for Coffee + Tea Canisters
6. Essential Oil Tray
7. Simple Centerpiece + Greenery
8. Family Photos + Candle
9. Garden Caddy + Garden Centerpiece
10. Dessert Tray
Whew! High five to those of you that made it through all of those photos. It took a while to put all of these different looks together, but I really hope this helped give you a few ideas to style a wooden tray in any room of your home. They really are just so darn handy and definitely one of my favorite things!
Thanks so much for stopping by today. I am always grateful when you spend part of your day here with me. xo

You might just be the queen of tray decorating! Love the tray in #8!

Sarah, I love all of these ideas but the garden tray has to be my favorite!! So stinkin cute!!!
Ohhhh I love that one too Melissa!!
So cute!! Could you tell me where you got the pitcher in the Breakfast tray photo?
Hi Deborah, that’s an old one from Target! It’s sold out but you can see it here: https://rstyle.me/n/ctxdujb6hgf
I’m lovin those trays Sarah! You style them so sweet! Have a great Day. Thanks Sarah! xoxoxo💗💟😀
ah thank you Becky!! xo
I love wooden trays and anything else with wood, love the garden tray, they are all useful and so cute.
Right there with you Darlene–they are SO handy!
Hi Sarah,
Love the tray ideas. They would be complimentary anywhere you put them.
Sarah, my question to you is. How did you paint your dining room furniture? Did you use an air compressor and sprayer or did you paint the set by hand? How did you seal the set?
I am so thrilled to have subscribed to your blog as your style is so comfortable and cozy.
Sincerely,
I just paint by hand actually! And then if I seal any furniture it’s with either a clear poly or clear wax. I recommend the poly if you will be using the piece a lot or have it come in contact with water! Wax just doesn’t hold up that well–in my experience anyway!
I love wooden trays too and I have them several places and NOW I am even going to put one in my own bedroom and redecorate the one I have in our guest room due to your ideas you suggested. THANKS for ALL your wonderful decorating ideas. I truly look forward to reading each blog post.
Oh yay! Thanks so much for dropping by Debbie. xo
So pretty! I am also totally tray obsessed. Not only wooden ones, but also vintage silver, tole painted, wicker basket style, etc. pretty much anything that looks vintage/cottage style. My new favorite is a round wicker one with black metal handles I found at Target for $20. I styled for Christmas with a pitcher of greenery, gold reindeer from Target, a small Christmas book and a mug with cinnamon sticks. I also have one on my coffee table I like to change seasonally. They are so darn fun!
Ohhhh I love wicker trays too Vicki!! They add so much texture. Sounds like you style did perfectly for Christmas!

Keep sending us more ideas, we just gobble them up, lol!

Love the seed packs in the wire holder! What is the wire holder for originally? Would love to find one, I have a bunch of old seed packs and didnt know how to use them. Great idea!
Hi Tammy, I’m not sure what that little holder was originally. I think it was just a wire photo holder!
CUTENESS OVERLOAD! I loved all of them.
But I especially favor #9…the garden one. Maybe cause spring is around the corner! 🌱 ☀️🌷
I love that one too!! Thanks for stopping by Faith. xo

Hi Sarah, enjoy your blog as a new subscriber. Would you share the source for the white chairs/maybe recliners. Thank you!
thank you so much Pat! Those recliners are from Wal Mart actually. I’ll be doing a full review soon!
Good Evening Sarah
I love how you display the items on the trays. They look awesome.
Thanks so much for sharing these
thank you Candy!!
I love these creative ideas. I’m also doing some research on tray products. This has been very helpful to me. Really great ideas.
I have two wood trays painted with Satin Ivory Krylon. Would like to paint the trays with pretty flowers, I even considered applying a nice decal since I am not really artistic. One maybe to serve coffee and dessert; the other just something else to carry my crafting supplies from room to room. Any particular suggestions come to mind?
