Vintage Flash Cards + More Recent Finds

High five, we made it to Friday! How was your week?? I don’t about you, but this week has just gone on forever. Really, it’s felt like two weeks packed into one. Isn’t it weird how some weeks can feel like that? And then other weeks just whiz by in a flash. I don’t get it, but this week has been a doozy. And I can’t shake the heaviness in my heart from what happened in Florida a few days ago. Every time I turn on the news I just want to cry. As a mother and human being, I can’t image that kind of loss and tragedy. It’s unthinkable and it breaks my heart. I’m not sure how we as a country can prevent things like this from happening over and over again, but I know all I can do is love my people a little harder and continue to spread kindness and positivity. Love wins over hate, right? It has to. Anyway, let’s move on to today’s Friday Favorites and try to have a little fun. I actually did some antique shopping last weekend, so I have a few finds to share with you today along with a couple other things from the week!

Vintage Flash Cards

When I rearranged our front room recently I decided to keep this little work space. And guess what–I actually use it! Crazy, huh? There’s just enough space for my laptop and a cup of coffee, so I am really loving it. Plus it’s a great spot to display some of my vintage finds, like those cute flash cards I found last weekend while I was out antiquing.

I know these are just simple little flash cards, but there’s something about them that I’m really drawn to. When I spotted them in the antique store I was so excited. You guys know I love simple things, so that probably doesn’t surprise you. I thought they’d be fun for my little desk space here and I think they fit in perfectly.

If you’re a fan of vintage flash cards too, you should check out this listing on Etsy. They are very similar and really affordable. I also found those little metal tin canisters at the same antique shop. They aren’t vintage, but aren’t they so darn cute?! I bought three of them.

I also came across this vintage wooden pulley. Well, at least that’s what I think it is, but I could be wrong. Again, this is just a simple find but I love adding small things like this to my collection of antiques. It’s all in the details, right?!

Vintage Industrial Spool

Ok, one last find from my antiquing trip–this vintage industrial spool! I’ve seen these many times before, but I’ve never actually bought one for myself. Well for whatever reason this time I was really drawn to it, so it came home with me. I think these date back to the 1940s, so it’s a cool piece of history, plus it’s fun to style on the coffee table or maybe even some shelves. I found very similar ones listed here on Etsy if you want to snag one for yourself.

New Vintage Door

I shared our newly painted front room earlier this week, but I didn’t really have a chance to mention the new vintage door I have sitting over in the corner of the room. I’ve had a major crush on this door for years now, so I wanted to share it with you guys today!

farmhouse style old door. vintage black screen door

My parents actually had this old screen door in their living room for years. It’s probably been at least a decade and you better believe I’ve been drooling over it the entire time. Well I’ve been begging my mom to let me “borrow” it for a while now and she finally caved. They brought it to me a couple of weekends ago and of course I was jumping around like a kid on Christmas. You guys, I absolutely LOVE this door. It will probably end up with a wreath on it eventually, but for now it’s perfect as it is.

Other tidbits from the week:

  • The beadboard wallpaper I ordered from the big home sale at Macy’s a few weeks ago came in and I am SO excited to try it out. I’ve heard so many good things about this stuff and I think it’s going to be a really fun DIY project. Right now I’m thinking about putting it in our power bathroom. I’ll be sure to share how it goes once I’m done!
  • I made at trip to Target this week to check out the Universal Threads line that everyone has been going crazy over and I gotta say, it’s pretty awesome. I bought a couple shirts (here and here) along with two pairs of jeans that I am absolutely obsessed with. Really, they’re some of the best jeans I’ve ever worn and SO affordable. I bought this pair and this one too. I also fell in love with their bags!

Loved the farmhouse vibe of this bag! So cute for spring and summer, right? I also love this crossbody satchel handbag. You guys know I’m a sucker for larger bags and this one is just gorgeous. And you can’t beat the price!

  • I also picked up these shoes in white recently and I have been practically living in them the past couple of weeks. If you follow me on Instagram and watch my stories you’ve probably heard me rave about them a couple of times. I seriously love these, they are SO comfy.

Comfy shoes and home sweet home mat

Well I better stop here because this post is getting pretty long at this point! Thank you so much for stopping by today, I truly appreciate it! And I hope you have a wonderful weekend. It’s a long one with the holiday, so go enjoy yourself! I’ll see you back here sooooooon. xo

Love your finds! I have some flash cards too, but they have to = 3 for the 3 of us. Glad to you reviewing the Universal Thread line–they have some great stuff! And those white tennies made it in my card this week, too! I also have them in black, blush, olive, and tan (not sure why Target labels them gray?!?). SO darn comfy!
