The Best Neutral Paint Colors

Happppppy Friday you fabulous people! How was your week? It’s actually been really good around here because my little guy has been on fall break all week. We haven’t done much, but it’s just been soooooo nice to spend lazy days together. I seriously love days where we have nothing to do and no place to be–we just hang out together, watch movies, bake cookies, and piddle around the house. It’s my favorite kind of day and I’m so thankful we got a few of those this week. And I even made myself take some time off from working on the blog so I could focus on really enjoying the time with them. It was the rest we needed for sure and I’m a bit sad the week is already over. Anyway, I honestly didn’t have much to share for Friday Favorites today (unless you want to see a list of the movies and junk food I’ve been eating all week long!) so I thought it would be fun to put together a roundup of the best neutral paint colors for your home. I actually started researching this a few weeks ago when I was painting our dining room and looking for the perfect shade of white. Well in that process I realized there are about a gazillion paint colors to choose from in every shade and it’s actually a bit overwhelming. So I’ve spent some time scouring the land of Pinterest and the beautiful homes of my favorite bloggers to put together a really awesome color guide for us neutral loving gals. I have a great list of the best whites, creams, soft grays, and even light blues and greens!

I’ve mentioned a few times how the color of the walls in your home plays a huge role in the overall feel and vibe. It’s just about the easiest and cheapest way you can transform any room. And I really think that establishing a neutral foundation with the right paint color can drastically change how your furniture and decor looks. It’s kind of crazy really, but paint color is everything.

Well I hope these color palettes help if you’ve been looking for some new ideas for your home. Thanks so much for dropping by the blog today. I have some awesome posts planned for next week, so I will see you back here soooooooooon. Have a fabulous weekend my friends! xoxo

I just painted my bathroom the modern grey color. I have a dark stain vanity I am putting in.
Can a sleep modern vanity work if I put a rustic country wood floor down?

I’m so happy that you spend some quality time with your beautiful babies, as well as recharging your batteries. I have learned the hard way that a burned out mama isn’t good for anyone. Even now, at 63 I have to remember to slow the heck down. Although, at this point, I must admit my body is the boss of that. Hee hee. Enjoy your weekend and speaking for all of us, we’ll be here when you get back. Xx

It was so good to have a lazy-ish week around here Angela! Much needed. I LOVE working, but sometimes I just have to force myself to slow down and rest a bit. It was a great week and I’m looking forward to getting back at it next week! xoxo

I am trying to choose paint right now for our great room and really leaning towards repose gray! But I’m having trouble choosing the white shade for the shiplap wall . I have samples of alabaster and snowbound by SW which shade would you choose? Thanks!

Oh that’s a tough one. I think Alabaster has a grayish undertone to it, at least that’s what it looks like in our dining room, so maybe snowbound would be better if you’re looking for a brighter white. Does the room get a lot of natural light?

Our entire first floor rooms are painted Manchester tan by Benjamin Moore. Love it!! Have also used mascarpone, also Benjamin Moore, in our sunroom, bathrooms and basement family room.
    Have a great weekend!

Revere Pewter by SW is an awesome gray color as well!! Painted entire house with it! Lots of my friends used it as well. Just a good, neutral color. Have a great weekend! Meg P

What does everyone think of painting accent walls? If yes, how do you determine a color?

I used to do accent walls all the time in my two previous homes. I’m just not the biggest fan of them these days. But I do think it can work if it’s the right combo of colors!

We just painted our spare bedroom repose gray and I love it! Now I want to paint the living and dining room the same color. A nice warm gray. As far as an accent wall, it makes me think someone couldn’t make up their mind which color to paint a room. Just my humble opinion though 😉

Sarah, I think you may have just MADE MY DAY!! I have been searching for the perfect color for the exterior of my small cottage style home. A neutral that is light in color but without yellow or red undertones, to be the backdrop to my beautiful green, pink, burgandy and white flower and shrub plantings. I can’t wait to get a sample of SHERWIN WILLIAMS ACCESSIBLE to try out on the front of the house. Thank you SOOOOO much for this post today!

Spending time with the kids is the best…you never get that time back.

We did our bedroom in Alabaster, and it is such a perfect, creamy white that I wish I had done all of my ‘white’ rooms in it. The crisp white molding (forgot that color!!), stands out beautifully!

P.S. Love your hair, skincare, and makeup posts and IG videos. How about something related to your eating habits and workout routine? Thanks!

Hi Jane! So glad to hear you are loving Alabaster. I love it too, it really transformed our dining room. And about my eating habits and workout routine, I might actually do that sometime soon. I’ve had a few requests for it!

We are building a house now and soon I will be picking out the wall colours, so this is really timely! I always thought I don’t want white walls, because I felt that it was to clinical, but I actually never knew you get an inviting warm white. Thank you for this!
