So I generally wait to do my Friday Favorites post until last minute because I like sharing things as they happen. You know, on the fly, in the moment. I like using these laid back Friday posts to just chat with you guys about how life has been going and share things I’ve been loving from the past week. Well guys, this last week was all about finding some new clothes for fall. I’m excited to share some of my finds, but before I do I have to tell you a little story. So the other day I was standing in my closet, just staring at my tiny collection of clothes trying to figure out what to wear–which by the way is super fun when you’re eight weeks postpartum. And as I stood there I was getting more and more frustrated because I literally had like six things to choose from in my “fall wardrobe” and most of them didn’t even fit. I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s true. My clothing options for fall were pathetic, mostly due to the fact that I don’t spend much money on clothes. Really, if you guys saw my closet you’d be shocked. It’s ridiculous. And the truth is I’ve made a habit of buying antiques and decor much more often than I buy clothes or shoes. (I bet a lot of you are the same way!) But you know what? I finally got fed up with my teeny tiny wardrobe and decided that the time has come to actually invest some money in myself and not just my house. It’s a crazy concept, I know, but at 31 years old I should probably not be wearing the same shirts I had in college, right? Right. Well I’ve been on a mission over the past two weeks or so to find new clothes and I’ve managed to get a few things I’ve been loving. And they’re all super affordable! Today I’m excited to show you guys and I hope it gives you a few ideas for yourself!
I found this awesome military vest and long sleeve crew shirt at Target (of course!) and I’m kind of obsessed with this combo. This shirt will go with just about anything and I see myself wearing this vest all the time over the next few months. These skinny jeans are also new and these Adidas sneakers are the most comfortable shoes ever.
I also snagged this oversized chunky cardigan in gray and dark green. I love how cozy and warm it is–perfect for fall and layering up as the days get colder!
I also grabbed this button down utility top. It’s super soft and it comes in a few different colors too. I think it’s cute by itself or it also makes a great layering piece. Here’s the same shirt paired with a long black cardigan.
I found these denim shorts on sale and I’ve been wearing them on repeat lately. Paired with a cozy cardigan and a striped tank, I think it’s the perfect outfit for early fall when the days are still warm. Now on to some maxi dresses!
Ok, is there anything better than a soft maxi dress? I wore them all the time during my pregnancy with Ava so I definitely wanted to find a few that would work post-baby. They’re just so flattering and comfortable. I found this one with a gathered waist on clearance at Target, so I can’t find the exact link. But this one here and here are very similar.
I had to save the best for last. You guys, this billowy maxi dress is hands-down the most comfortable thing in the entire world. I ordered this a few weeks after I had Ava and I’ve probably worn it 182 times since then. I loooooove it. It come in several colors and I really like it in light blue too . It perfectly covers all the wobbly bits, yet it’s super slimming at the same time. I usually pair it with a denim shirt, but it would also work with a cardigan or chunky sweater. And the best part? It has pockets! Any dress with pockets is a winner in my book.
From now on I’m going to try to make more of an effort to invest in myself and not just my house. As a stay at home mama and blogger, I’ve gotten into a slump over the past few years where I just don’t buy myself new clothes because I’m home bound most of the time. But it’s time for a change! I even went through my closet this week and got rid of old stuff that I’ve been wearing for years. You guys, I was still wearing shirts I had in college–which was 10 years ago! It was so bad. But no more. I’m ready to do more for myself. Here’s to wearing something other than yoga pants!

I’m the same way….I can buy home decor and antiques ALL DAY LONG, but I don’t enjoy shopping for clothes and as a result, I’ve had the same clothes forever. Thanks for the reminder to take care of myself too 🙂
