My New Favorite Smart Home Devices

You guys!! I am SO excited for today’s post because it’s about something I’ve become obsessed with and I think you all are going to really love it too. So several months ago I got interested in the idea of creating a “smart home”. And if you don’t know what means, it’s basically like using the power of technology in your home to make it more efficient, user friendly, secure, etc. But to be honest, I was kind of intimidated by the idea. I’ve told you all many times now that I’m really not a tech savvy person. I do what I absolutely have to do for the blog, but that’s about it. Anyway, a while back Verizon reached out to me about partnering up to feature their smart home devices and I said HECK YES. I’m so excited to share a few of their smart home accessories with you all today–two of which have completely changed our lives. Ok, that might be a tad bit dramatic, but it’s pretty darn close.

So we all know Verizon as a service provider (I’ve actually been a Verizon customer since I got my very first phone when I was sixteen years old!) but what you might not realize is that they also offer several amazing home devices too, including security cameras, doorbells camera, wireless chargers, Google Home and the Nest thermostat. And you don’t have to be a Verizon customer to purchase the products. All you need is wifi in your home and you’re good to go!

Of all the smart home products Verizon offers, I was most interested in the Nest thermostat. I’ve heard AMAZING things about its ability to reduce heating and cooling costs, so I was really excited to give it a try. I picked one up at our local Verizon store near Park Meadows Mall and it was SO easy to install. My husband and I were both a little nervous going into it, but the instructions were super easy to follow, even for non-tech savvy people like us. All we had to do was remove our old thermostat cover and replace it with the Nest system. We had it up and running in about thirty minutes.

The thing I love about the Nest thermostat is that it allows us to control the temperature in our home in a more efficient way because it has magical energy saving features. It learns what temperature we like in the house and then suggests a similar temperature that is more energy friendly. But my favorite feature of all is that we can control it remotely from our phones! I simply downloaded the Nest app and BOOM. I can adjust the temperature in our home right from my phone. (The green leaf you can see in the photo above indicates a more efficient temperature choice. So cool, right?!)

Adjusting the thermostat can be done directly on the dial or on the Nest app, which it’s SO simple to use. With the app, I can adjust the temperature quickly and easily from anywhere on my phone.  It’s especially useful if we’ve been out for the day and I want to warm the house up before we get home.

We also installed the doorbell camera, which is called Nest Hello. This is basically a “smart” doorbell that is enabled with video camera so I can see who is at the door 24/7 from my phone. How amazing is that?! It alerts me whenever someone is at the door, even if they don’t ring the doorbell. Seriously. LIFE CHANGING.

I can honestly say that I am obsessed with both of these products. They’re even more amazing than I expected and I highly recommend them if you’re looking to make you home more efficient and secure. And Verizon has so many other amazing home devices too, like Google Home, indoor cameras, and even wireless chargers. Plus now that it’s the holiday season, they’re running all types of great specials. So if you’ve been thinking about any of these products now is a great time to snag them at your local Verizon.

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog! You can hop over to my Instagram page later today to see a video of my day with Verizon!

  • Home from my hair appointment & I practically begged my husband to stand outside in a freezing (and windy) snow storm to snap a few photos of me. We somehow managed to get one decent shot, but you have to swipe right to see the outtakes #weareprofessionals 🤣🤣 happy Friday guys!! 🙌🏻 http://liketk.it/2zpyb #liketkit @liketoknow.it
  • This afternoon I planned to work during nap time, but instead I spent an hour laying in bed with this girl chatting about how she’s going to have a house right next door to me when she grows up. We talked about how we’re going to be best friends forever & about how she loves the color pink. I snapped this photo to send to my husband & I had no plans of posting it here, but this is a moment I wish I could stay in forever. This is what I live for & it’s these simple moments that fill my soul & put everything into perspective for me. Motherhood is such a gift—the good days, the hard days & everything in between. I’m so grateful for it all. ❤️
  • It was nice enough to have the windows open this afternoon, so I happily soaked in all that sunshine & fresh air. Is it too soon to get excited about spring?!☀️🙌🏻 In other news I’ve been organizing & cleaning like a mad woman today. I just finished our cabinets/pantry & they look SO much better. Next up is the fridge, I’m just working up the courage to go in there. Maybe I’ll leave that job to my husband 🤣🤣 Who else is organizing all the things right now? 🙋‍♀️ http://liketk.it/2znnE #liketkit @liketoknow.it #LTKhome
  • Someone wasn’t a fan of napping today, so we’re currently listening to Daddy Shark for the 324th time & counting down the minutes til bedtime. But dang that little smile sure is cuuuuuute 😍🙌🏻 http://liketk.it/2zlUc #liketkit @liketoknow.it
  • I spent the day working away in my happy little office & I couldn’t help but think about how lucky I am to do what I love every single day. If you had told me when I first started blogging that I would quit my job & still be doing this three years later I would have laughed. I never thought this would be possible for me, but here I am & it’s happening. God is good 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I can’t wait to see what 2019 has in store! http://liketk.it/2zkXX @liketoknow.it #liketkit
  • What. A. Day. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I just got home from the @oldhousevintagemarket, where I got to spend the whole day browsing antiques & hanging out with one of my favorite humans @lizmariegalvan. We did a fun Q&A session this afternoon with @whitecottagefarm & it was such an honor to sit next to this woman that I’ve admired & respected for so long. ✨
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to see us! The whole day was amazing & I’m going to bed tonight with a grateful heart. ❤️🙏
