It’s been almost two weeks exactly since I had my first ever PRP microneedling session. I always love hearing about skincare and what other people are doing for their skin, so I wanted to share a quick update in case any of you are interested!
So the crazy thing with PRP microneedling is they actually draw your blood first and then spin it in this little machine that separates out the plasma. Then they use the plasma during the microneedling session, which is supposed to significantly improve your results. So crazy, right?! It was kinda weird, but apparently plasma is like liquid gold. Plus I’ve heard people rave about PRP for years, so I finally decided to give it a try. I have old acne scars on my cheeks that I always feel self conscious about, so improving those was my main focus. (Microneedling is great for boosting collagen and improving fine lines/texture.)
In the photo above you can see what I looked like immediately after the session. I was definitely red and very sunburnt looking, but it really didn’t hurt. Just felt like I had a bad sunburn and somewhat tight. In the photo on the right, I was about 48 hours out. The recovery was overall super quick and the procedure itself wasn’t painful (they do apply a numbing cream beforehand). The only downside was a bit of peeling for a few days, but nothing major. And I can already see an improvement in my skin. The texture is definitely better and it even helped with some discoloration. They recommended that I do another session in a month or so!
Here’s how my skin looked 4 days out from the PRP microneedling.
Since my treatment, I’ve gone super light on my makeup. I’ve actually been loving this lighter look lately so I wanted to share what I’ve been using every day:
Tinted Moisturizer: This is an oldie, but a goodie. I usually only use this in the summertime, but I’ve been using this since the PRP and I love it. The coverage is light of course, but it gives the skin a dewy, pretty finish. Plus it has sunscreen. I’m in the shade natural 05.
Glow Sunscreen: Speaking of sunscreen, this is the one I’ve been using now for almost a year. I love this one because it doesn’t break me out and it had a nice lightweight finish. Plus it doesn’t smell like sunscreen!
Eyeshadow Palette: A lot of days I just use bronzer for eyeshadow, but when I want to darken it up a bit I use this old pallet. It’s no longer sold by Tarte, but here’s a similar option with the same neutral colors.
Quick Stick Eyeliner: I love this shadow and liner stick! It’s waterproof so it stays on all day. I have the bronze luster and liner shade.
Kiehl’s Ultra Face Cream: I have been loving this face cream. It is so moisturizing and helps my skin feel soft and smooth and sits nicely under my makeup!
NARS Creamy Concealer: This is the concealer that I’m currently using everyday. I wish it had a bit more coverage, but I love that it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin and that it lasts all day!
Brow Wax: I love this brow wax for that laminated brow look! It holds my brows in place all day and doesn’t flake.
Tartelette Tubing Mascara: I’ve shared this mascara before–this is my FAVORITE! It makes my lashes look super long and it keeps them curled.
Eyebrow Pencil: This eyebrow pencil is under $10 on Amazon and it’s just as good as any of the pricey brow pencil I have used.
Lip Gloss: This plumping gloss has a lot of hype around it. I really like it, but I’m not sure I would repurchase it. It’s definitely on the pricey side for a lip gloss!
Also I want to add that I’ve been using this eyelash serum for almost a month now and I can definitely see a difference in my lashes. I actually started using this my mom told me about it–she started using it a few months ago and her lashes are super long now! I asked for a code, so if you want to try it you can use SARAHJOY.
After my mirconeedling session, I was given a mediheal mask to use at home for extra hydration. I loved it so much, I looked them up and was surprised to find them on Amazon! Apparently their Korea’s number one sheet mask. Anyway they have a ton of great options, so I ordered several different kinds. Definitely check them out if you’re a fan of sheet masks.
