How My Style Has Changed + Free eBook!

I was browsing through a few old photos of our home the other day and I realized that my style has changed SO much over the past couple years. Our home has evolved in a lot of ways and it’s actually kinda cool to look back over my blog posts to see how things have changed. It’s definitely been a process to really figure out what I love and what works in our home, so today I thought it would be fun to look back at a few photos of our front room from 2017 and compare them to how things look now. I’m also excited to share about my first ever design e-book!! EEEK! I’ll chat more about that in a minute, but let’s start with how things looked in 2017:

Farmhouse Style Spring Decor in the Front Room. Great vintage and farmhouse style ideas for spring!

And how it looks now:

Another shot from 2017:

Compared to now:

One more before photo:

And how this same spot looks now:

Kinda crazy to see all the differences in this same room, right?! All of the before photos were taken in 2017 and at the time I feel like my style was much more “busy” and a little cluttered. Now, two years later, my style has become more simple and more minimal in a lot of ways. Plus I’ve been loving more color too!

For me, the biggest takeaway from these photos is that finding your style is very much a trial and error process that takes time–it definitely won’t happen overnight. And even when you do find it, things can (and probably will) change as time goes on. But designing your home should be a labor of love. There really is no right or wrong way to do it, so just have fun. All that matters is that you LOVE it.

My First Ever Design e-Book!

Ok now onto the fun news! I’m so excited to share that I’ve written my first ever design e-book. Whoot whoot!! And best of all–it’s totally FREE. In this simple guide I’m sharing my top five design tips for creating a cozy and welcoming home. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed or stuck when it comes to designing a space, these easy tips will make the process a total breeze.

I had a lot of fun putting this e-book together and I hope you enjoy it. And I have to say, sharing my passion and love of home with you all over these past (almost) four years has been such a huge blessing in my life. The fact that so many of you show up here every single day means more than I could ever put into words. But I want you to know how much I appreciate it. Thank you for being here. Thank you for supporting me and cheering me on. Every day I thank God for this blog and all of you! xo

What a beautiful transformation! I can so relate to it being a process to discover your personal style…in fact, my journey has been the opposite of yours; I’ve gone from pops of color to an almost neutral palette that actually feels more relaxing to me!
Thank you for such an insightful and wonderful blog!!!!

Thanks for sharing Sarah. Love seeing comparisons, your style has changed quite a bit. 2017 looked good but 2019 is looking even better! I’m glad you mentioned that finding your style can take time because I feel like it’s only now after years of not really knowing what I liked, I’m finding my niche in our home. Looking forward to receiving your new e-book! Thank you for that 😊

I’m part of the crowd that loves both looks. I think what I really love is that you encourage people to shop their homes and move stuff around to achieve something different if they feel the itch to switch. In my early years once something went on a wall, it didn’t come down until I painted. Keep sharing all the looks sweet friend.

  • We’re on day 3 of the kitchen tile reno, so this little space in the basement is literally the only clean area in our whole house right now 🥴😆 But they’re making progress in the kitchen + I know it will all be worth it soon. Plus there are some major perks that come with having your refrigerator in the living room. That sandwich I made from the recliner last night was delicious 🤣😉 PS: those black sticking stripe pillows on the sofa are from one of my favorite small shops ever @withlavenderandgrace.
