Hallelujah, it is Friday! I am so ready for the weekend. It’s been kind of an off week around here and I’m not exactly sure why. Maybe it’s because we’re just getting back in the swing of things after Spring Break or maybe it’s all the crummy weather we’ve been having. I’m not sure, but it was just kind of blah for the most part. I don’t know what’s up. But can I be honest with you guys? I’ve officially surpassed the cute pregnant lady stage and I’m not into that “I feel like a wet noodle and look like a whale” kind of stage. Really, that’s a thing. And apparently it happens a lot sooner when it’s baby number three. I’m about 26 weeks now, which means I still have sooooo long to go. And I already feel this way? Eeesh. It’s going to be a looooong haul finishing this thing out. But despite the fact that my thighs are growing by the nanosecond and my energy is often times running on empty, I’m trying to give myself some grace. And remember how blessed I am to have a healthy little girl growing in my belly. And that’s really all that matters, right? Right. Anyway, you aren’t here to listen to me ramble on about my week. Let’s get to Friday Favorites already.
Vintage Inspired Tray
I’m pretty sure I’ve talked about this vintage inspired tray once before here on the blog, but I wanted to include it today because it’s something I’ve loved for about a year now. I’ve used it all over the house, there really are so many ways you can style this, and it’s become one of my go-to pieces. I’m sure you’ve spotted it in a few posts by now. I just love the antique look it has and that scrolling is awesome. Magnolia Market was selling these at one time on their website, and that’s actually where I got mine, but can find it for cheap on Amazon.
Vintage Goose Down Pillows
So last weekend we visited my parents house and I spotted these vintage goose down pillows with blue striped ticking fabric hiding in a linen closet. Of course I was instantly smitten. I asked my mom where these magical pillows came from and she told me that she made them with my Granny about 25 years ago. Apparently my great-grandmother was getting rid of an old goose down mattress that was falling apart, so my mom and Granny rescued it and made these amazing pillows.
After lots of begging and negotiating, my mom was sweet enough to let me “borrow” them. Whoot! I brought them home and immediately put them in our reading nook. They are insanely soft, but these suckers are HEAVY. They’re definitely the real deal. But how perfect is that blue striped ticking fabric? Good choice mom! I just love these.
Indian Healing Clay Mask
Ok, switching gears here I have to tell you guys about this mask. Have you heard of this Aztec healing clay?? Holy smokes, this stuff is insane. Really, this is hands-down the best facial mask I have ever used. I actually first discovered it while watching Jessie James Decker on Snapchat a few months ago. (don’t judge me!) She was using it, so I figured it must be good.
It’s actually a powder that you mix with either water or apple cider vinegar. I did it once with water, but I much prefer to do it with apple cider vinegar–it just seems more potent that way. And let me tell you, it’s pretty darn amazing. If you want to really clean out your pores, you need this stuff in your life. But fair warning, it’s a bit intense. You’ll probably be surprised at how powerful it is. Anyway, you can find it for $10 on Amazon and there are over 12,000 reviews!
Rose Water Facial Spray
While we’re on the topic of skincare, I wanted to mention my obsession with the rose water facial spray. My favorite is by Mario Badescu. I’ve been using it for at least four years now and I love it. I actually use this as my moisturizer in the morning about 80% of the time. I just mist 4-5 squirts all over my face after cleansing and I’m good to go. I’ve also used this to freshen up my makeup mid-day and it works to give you more of a dewy finish. I actually did my cousin’s makeup for her wedding and I used this to finish off her look. This stuff is the bee’s knees. And as you can see I need to order another bottle of it. You can find it here.
For the Love by Jen Hatmaker
Ah where do I start with this book. It’s a little gem. A friend actually let me borrow this a few months back and I really enjoyed it. It’s all about giving yourself grace when you feel like you’re trying to do it all and doing a terrible job at everything. It’s about cutting yourself some slack in a world of Pinterest perfection and comparison. And one thing that really stuck with me was this idea of understanding what season of life you’re currently in and then setting boundaries around that to protect what matters most to you right now. Be ok with saying no when you need to and then don’t feel guilty about it. The author also talks about embracing the gifts/talents/abilities God has given you and using those to live your best life. I could ramble on, but it’s really a good read. And it’s hilarious. The author is witty, sarcastic, and just flat out funny. All good things if you ask me. You can check it out here.
Well there ya have it my friends, those are my Friday Favorites today. A tray, vintage pillows, a cleansing mask, facial spray, and a good book. Pretty random, huh? I should probably start categorizing these so I’m not jumping all over the place every week. But I will say, it sure has been fun to share some of my favorite things with you all. I’d love to hear what you think of my picks this week. And as always let me know if you have any questions, you know I love to chat.
I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. I’m planning to do lots of nothing and get plenty of rest! I’ll see you back here on Monday. And I can’t wait for next week–I have some really great posts lined up for you lovely people.
???????????? I laughed so much at your description of your stage in pregnancy! I didn’t do that phase well and I reckon NO-ONE on earth had thighs like mine! Love the tray and pillows…your mums house sounds like a treasure trove! Lovely post, enjoy your weekend x
haha, glad you got a good laugh Helen! Have a great weekend my friend xoxo
Your mother’s pillows are beautiful, and I have to respond. Several years ago I used a large bucket to collect feathers from old pillows. Then I used the feathers to stuff new pillow forms I had just made.
I did this outside, but wearing a fleece jacket. BIG MISTAKE. I looked like I had just pucked a chicken. There were feathers everywhere, and most stuck to my jacket.
Thank you Jane, I’m so glad I got to “borrow” them from my mom. And you gave me a good chuckle with your story about the feathers. I can just picture you with those stuck all over your fleece! Sounds like something I would do.
Found you while googling farmhouse decorations, very glad I did 🙂 Have a great weekend. Jen
Oh good, I’m so glad you found me Jen. Happy to have you here and I hope you stick around a while!
LOVE LOVE LOVE Friday favorites!!
Yay!! So glad you enjoy them Jodi!
You sold me on the facial spray! And it’s not too expensive either, which is always a win in my book!
You will love it Ellen! It’s amazing stuff and you’re right, so cheap!
I was happy to see your tray again! I bought one after seeing yours featured a couple of months back. Right now mine is displaying a nest, 3 stone birds and a mini flower. Yours looks lovely. I really enjoy your postings and look forward to them every time.
Oh that’s awesome you bought one too. I sure love that tray, I use it all over the house. So glad to have you drop by today!
Oh My Gosh…those pillows are to die for! What an amazing find and for free; what’s not to love about that! I’m obsessed with grain sack pillows right now! Farmhouse on Boone has a pillow cover for half off almost every Friday and so I have gotten three from them so far….LOVE!
Ohhh I love grain sack pillows too Brenda. I’ll have to check out Farmhouse on Boone and her pillows, I’d love to snag a few of those! Thanks for the tip. I hope you have a great weekend my friend!
I love your post! Not just because you give us all such great design ideas and your favorite things so we can enjoy them also, but I absolutely “LOVE” the way you speak! Honestly, you are a “CUTIE TWO SHOES”…..you have such an enduring way to express your thoughts with words that make me smile and laugh out loud! I pray God’s blessings over you, your pregnancy and you family. KUDOS for a great post today ❤️
Oh my goodness, you are too sweet Patty! Thank you so much, I really appreciate that. And I’m so happy to hear you enjoy my style of writing. I try to write like I would talk to a friend–as if we are sitting down over a cup of coffee for a little chat!
I love your picks..love the First Five from last week.
..thank you for sharing your life with us!
That’s awesome, I’m glad you’re enjoying the First 5 app Jana!!
Love these Friday posts too! Just requested the book from the library and will pick it up today. Looks like a good one. I’ve been reading The Purpose Driven Life for Lent and have been enjoying it a lot!
Oh that’s awesome, I hope you enjoy the book Deanna! It’s a fun, quick read but I really enjoyed it.
Love your mish mash of favorites – they actually all fit together if you think about it. You could put on the clay mask, sit in your nook (or other cozy place) propped against those awesome goose down pillows reading the book, have a cup of tea handy on the tray, then spritz face with rose water when the mask was finished! Oh, wow, I might have to really put this all together for some ‘me’ time! Thanks much!!!
haha you are awesome Bonnie–I think that all sounds absolutely perfect!
You put your Milk & Cream sign back up!!! YAY!!! Love that sign. I just showed a friend your tutorial and she is planning on making one. 🙂
Yes I did Julie!! I think that’s where it belongs. And thanks for sharing that post with you friend! 🙂
