I gotta be honest guys, I’ve been in a bit of a creative funk. I’m not sure why exactly, but I’ve just felt uninspired when it comes to decor. I’ve felt bored with the same old things, which is why I haven’t really shared a lot of decor posts lately. And I wasn’t even planning to blog today, but this weekend I finally got a little creative spark when I noticed that our lilac bushes were blooming. So I went outside and did what any reasonable person would do–I cut approximately 381 lilac branches. True story. I couldn’t help myself. They were just too pretty. And once I had all 381 branches laid out in my kitchen, I finally started to feel a bit of creative inspiration coming on. Hallelujah! I ended up using all of the lilacs in a pretty little centerpiece I put together with woven baskets and I’m excited to share it with you guys today.
So since I was finally feeling creative, I wanted to come up with a new way display my lilacs. I started brainstorming different buckets or bins I could use around the house, but then I remembered these white woven baskets I picked up at Target a few months ago. They’re actually pretty small, so I knew they would be the perfect size for my lilacs!
Obviously I needed something to actually hold water for the flowers inside the baskets, so I dug around in my decor closet until I found these vintage jars. Turns out they were exactly the right size for the baskets. SCORE. I put the two together, filled them up with all the lilacs, and here’s how it looks:
Aren’t they so pretty?! I love how the lilacs look in these white baskets. And you’d never know there was actually a jar in there, huh? Oh the trickery!
Now I just need some kind of fancy tea party with little pink cups and delicious cookies to go along with this pretty centerpiece. Too bad I don’t have anything like that scheduled soon. But either way, I’m still LOVING this easy centerpiece and I can’t get over how pretty those lilacs look in the baskets. Such an easy little trick! And I have to say, playing with these fresh flowers totally gave me the kick in the pants I needed to get creative again. I guess I need to start looking for more inspiration outdoors!
Well I hope this post gave you an idea or two for displaying your own lilacs. I mean, that is if you have any growing in your yard. OR if you neighbor does. Surely they won’t notice if you trim a few branches. Just be sneaky.

Beautiful Sarah! Can you please remind me what color paint is on your walls in the dining room? The wall color is different from the trim color, yes?
Yes the color on the walls is different from the color on the trim. The walls are Alabaster by Sherwin Williams and the trim is Cloud White by Sherwin Williams.

Beautiful!! I love the baskets and lilacs! I’m on the hunt for the baskets and jars to fit. Lilacs are gone, but will try with other flowers this summer.
Sorry you are in a funk. I totally get it, I was feeling that way in March when we had too much rain and not enough sun. Time for a little shopping (flea market, garage sale or your favorite antique store). Spend sometime enjoying a favorite beverage and pouring over some of your decorating magazines or Pinterest saves for inspiration. Watch a favorite romantic comedy. You deserve some downtime.
So pretty! l inspired me, .those woven baskets are very nice . So simple and pretty
L o v e Lilacs’!
I love your flower basket creation but I’d also love to know where you got that fabulous chandelier.
