OMGGGGGGGGG. I know I say this a lot, and you’re probably annoyed at this point, but I am SO excited for today’s post. Seriously, I kind of feel like a kid on Christmas because I finally, finally have my very own home office and today I get to share it with you guys! If you’ve been around for a while you know that I’ve been wanting a little office area for a LONG time now, but it just never really worked out. I honestly didn’t think there was a good space in our home for one and I even kicked around the idea of converting our little white shed in the backyard into my she-shed/office. Obviously that would have been a huge project, and my husband wasn’t exactly thrilled about it, so I started looking around the house for an area I could transform into an office. Well it finally dawned on me that I had the perfect spot in our basement just waiting to be transformed into the LVN office. It’s actually turned out better then I had hoped and I’m so happy to share it with you today!
I can’t even believe that I finally have my own little office, which is SO important when you work from home. I mean, it’s not like I don’t love working from the couch, kitchen table, or even my bed. But it’s really not the most inspiring place and it’s hard to be organized in a setting like that. So finally having a space like this is just awesome. I really wanted a designated area I could go to and feel inspired and motivated to sit down at work. I think this spot does exactly that! The desk fits in perfectly with my little shelf and it all just feels so inviting and cozy, even for an office.
This desk was one I’d been eyeing for a long time and I was lucky enough to snag it a few weeks ago when it went on a MAJOR sale. (And last I check it’s still on sale!) I am so impressed with the overall quality and I love that it has tons of storage space without being too large or bulky. Plus I love the weathered wood finish.
How cute is this little file holder?! It’s actually holding all of the magazines I’ve been published in so far, which is honestly still so surreal. I’ve had them all in storage, but I brought them out to sit on the desk to serve as a reminder to keep working hard and chasing my dreams, especially on days when my motivation is lacking.
This large wall basket used to hold some of the kids’ books, but I switched it over to hold all of my favorite magazines and a few random books I love as well. You know I am obsessed with The Magnolia Journal, so I usually hold on to all of my old copies just in case I ever feel like reading them again. They’re full of great inspiration!
I was going to buy a cute little office chair to go along with my new desk, but I honestly didn’t feel like spending the money on one right now. Plus I have about 14 of these white antique chairs sitting around my house and I figured this would do just fine for now. And it turns out that I actually love the combo of the antique chair with the rustic desk. It’s kind of unexpected, but it works!
I just realized this is the first space in our home that I’ve set up for just me, which feels a bit weird to be honest. I mean, usually I’m focused on things like our living room or kitchen–you know, the kind of spaces our entire family can enjoy. But this time, this one was all about me. And I gotta say, it’s pretty darn awesome to have my very own home office after almost three years of not having one. And best of all it’s a spot that inspires me and motivates me to chase my dreams. And I love that it’s set up in our basement too. The kids can be playing or snuggled on the couch watching a movie while I’m sittin’ in my spot getting work done. What could be better?!
I’m so happy you dropped by the blog today!! I’d love to hear what you think of my little farmhouse style home office and be sure to let me know if you have any questions. xoxo
