After months of debating whether or not to paint our built-in cabinet in the basement, we finally decided to go for it. I almost did it a few months ago, but it felt like a big risk. I mean, painting cabinets is a tad bit more involved than painting a wall. There’s sanding involved, spraying, all the things. It’s a process. But it’s finally happened and I’m so excited to show you how it looks! Here it was before:
I’ve loved this cabinet white for almost three years now. But it was time for a change. Here’s how it looks in black:
Such a huge change, right?! I love it so much. It really helps ground the room and creates such a focal piece. The color is Tricorn Black by Sherwin Willams. Area rug is HERE.
We also switched out the black sconces that were on this cabinet for these brass ones. I love the combo of black and brass!
So so happy with how this project turned out. Now I want to go paint more things black–haha! Let me know what you think. xo
It looks great! maybe try brass cabinet pulls to tie in with sconces?
I thought about that, but I kinda like the dark knobs actually!
It looks great, Sarah! Would you mind sharing the source for the rug?
thank you! That rug is from Boutique Rugs–here is the link: https://rstyle.me/+wlQyv3RZMUaOOvxvSCOqsA
Love it! So classic!
Sorry, but all I can think about this is “gloom and doom”! It is way too much black for me. I am glad you are happy with it!
Beautiful 🤩!
thank you Terry!
Where did you get the cabinets?
Where if the coffee ottoman table from?
I LOVE this! I’m planning to paint an old china cabinet this same color. What sheen did you use? Are you happy with it? Thank you!
Do you have the plans for this shelf unit? I love it so much!! It’s exactly what I’m wanting for my living room!! Thanks!!
Where do you get you get that? Beautiful
I like what you ve done but loved them white too in your previous pictures. Can you tell what white you used on your basement trim and cabinets before you chsnged them to black? I’m finishing my basement right now.
