A Vintage Fall Centerpiece
Well guys, I made it all the way to September 19th before posting fall decor here on the blog. And you know what? I’m actually kind of surprised that I made it this long. I think by this time last year I was knee-deep in fall decorating, with pumpkins in pretty much every nook and cranny of our home. But this year I’m taking things a little slower. I guess I’ve been waiting on inspiration to hit. Either way it’s finally happening and I’m SO darn excited to start playing around with pretty fall things. Today I want to share a fun vintage inspired fall centerpiece with you lovely people. This is just a little something I threw together a few days ago and I actually love how it turned out, even though it is a bit non-traditional for a dining table centerpiece.
Remember that vintage card catalog that was in our front room? Well it’s currently sitting in storage while I try to figure out where to put it. I really hate not using it, but I just don’t have a good space for it right now. Anyway, while that’s in storage I might as well use the little drawers, right? I pulled three of them out to style this fall centerpiece. They’re obviously not what you’d typically expect to see on a dining table, but that’s kinda what I love about it. It’s unexpected and fun. Plus they’re the perfect size for pumpkins!
I loved using old books and flash cards in this centerpiece. Again they’re not exactly what you’d expect to see sitting on a dining table, but I sure do love them. In fact, I think if I had to pick just one item to decorate with for the rest of time it would be old books. Seriously. They can be used in SO many ways and they’re just so darn pretty.
Of course I had to include my favorite fall candles too! Apple Pickin’ is one of my all-time favorite scents ever.
It was a lot of fun styling this centerpiece with some nontraditional vintage pieces and I hope it inspires you to think outside the box a little too. I obviously don’t pay much attention to any “decor rules” in our home and I really don’t think you have to in order to create a home you love. As long as you’re having fun and love what you create, then everything is a-ok, right? I think so.
Thanks soooooo much stopping in today!! I honestly feel so blessed to have you all here hanging out with me every day. It means the world to me. Now here’s a few other fall posts that might inspire you:

I’ve been looking for white/neutral, decorative pumpkins and no luck. Any suggestions on where to look. Thanks always, for the inspiration.

I love. A great new way to incprporate all the fun things for a Vintage Fall.
If you are not into Halloween it is no biggie but my holiday OCD would make that numeric flash card into the date of the holiday…”31″ for Halloween and “25” for Thanksgiving.
I would removable sticky a title like The Raven on one of the books for October and Pilgrims Progress for Nov.
My 2 cents!!
Blessings.

What a great idea. I also love the uniqueness of it. Just one question, do you have to take off everything to eat there? Lol
Hugs and kisses 🎃 Angela
Sarah
> Angela Servellohaha we hardly ever eat at this table Angela! I’d say 95% of the time we eat all our meals in the breakfast nook.
Jan
I ❤️It! It’s perfect. It’s not a carbon copy centerpiece like we seem to (most of us) use & see.
Sarah
> JanThanks you Jan!! Appreciate that.

This is really creative, Sarah…you really knocked it out of the ballpark with the boxes, old books and pumpkins. It works because you made it work! I also applaud you for using at least part of the card catalog. Yay!
I have a lighter touch this year, too. More vignettes and baskets and bins holding fall inspired pieces. I’m just trying to make the open kitchen/dining room and living room reflect that autumn feel outside!!
Well done, my friend!
