Introducing Our New Home!

Well it finally happened–we got our new home!! We were able to close last week and I still can’t believe it actually happened. I really wasn’t sure we would ever see this day come with all the delays and setbacks we had over the last three months, but it finally all came together and now we have our own little homestead! The past few days have been super hectic because we’re already working on the new floors, but I wanted to pop in and share a quick update for you guys.

If you’ve been following along with our moving journey, you might remember that the house was already far into the building process when we went under contract, so we weren’t able to choose anything other than the wall color. They had already installed dark carpet and laminate flooring throughout the house, so I knew right away that we’d want to change the floors ASAP. As soon as we got the keys we started demo! Here’s a side by side of the new wood floors vs the laminate floors we removed:

I can’t wait to see how the house looks with this new floor!! We’re doing this in all the bedrooms as well as the kitchen and living room, so it’s going to totally transform the entire place. And that light color will definitely hide the dirt a lot better than the dark laminate. Install starts tomorrow so hopefully the new floors are done by the weekend if all goes well!

I have so many ideas for this house and I can’t wait to share more of our moving journey with all of you.  It’s going to be so much fun to transform this place into our dream home. (The basement construction also starts today too, so it’s a very exciting week!) And I’m just so thankful to finally have ten acres to spread our wings a little and create our own little farm. Bring on the chickens and country life, I am ready!!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog today. I always appreciate it! xoxo

Yay for new beginnings! So much fun. I had to giggle when you did the patio sitting area…we are on a ranch in the dirt…the breezes blow and the dirt travels….on my porch a lot of the time. It’s like the never ending story…always cleaning the furniture, and floors of inside and outside…especially when I love my windows open. Wide open spaces are wonderful but come at a cost. Worth it. Eventually I said ok whatever, and just let it happen, and I brush off the dirt before I sit down. We have horses all around us, so dirt it is part of that. But I love being here…just had to lower my expectations to be more realistic. You’re going to love it!! So much to do, and enjoy. Cherish the moments. God bless your journey! 🙏🏻🇺🇸❤️

It’s beautiful!! I’m so EXCITED to watch your journey. We moved into our new house two years ago on 2.5 acres up on a ridge in So. Cal. with a gorgeous view. But no landscaping!! Now we wish we had PLANTED TREES right away! You’re a lot younger than we are, but this quote is still true: “The best time to plant a tree is two years ago. The second best time is today.”
So Finally we went last weekend and bought 65 trees!!!
We won’t get to see them reach full maturity, but at least we are finally getting them in the ground. 👏👏🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲🌳🌲

Congrats, it’s beautiful! Having recently moved into a new home, one piece of advice I have ( as someone who loves to decorate and de-clutter, lol) is to not be too hasty to get rid of current decor and give yourself time to adjust to the new space. I almost got rid of some old things I had from my previous home, and then ended up finding the perfect place for it in the new house! If you are anything like me, you want it done NOW, but patience pays off. I have also painted old decor to give it a new look. (which of course, you are fabulous at!). I adore craftsman style, that is what we built and I love it! Enjoy your new space and all that land! So happy for you and your family!
